The Meze 99 Classics are really really great (especially for the money) … Good Choice!
Congrats and enjoy them.
Thank you that’s great to know
Just taken delivery of a pair of Focal Clear Mg to replace my decade old pair of Senn HD650. Getting some great results to far running them off my SN2 and from my laptop. Still some running in to do but pretty pleased so far.
I’m pretty sure I had one of those Sony receivers, it worked well with my SME arm and can’t remember the name of the turntable but it was British and had a platter smaller than 12”, I seem to remember that you could buy it in kit form for self assembly?
Just remembered it was a Connoisseur BD 1 or possibly 2 turntable and you could buy it in kit form! Apologies for thread drift!
I’ve made the same decision in pretty much the exact same set of circumstances you’ve described. I’m looking forward to getting them plugged in on my birthday.
I’ve had them now for a couple of weeks, I have to say very impressed. Nice tone and good bass. Surprisingly light to wear, and not overly sealed in but no sound leakage which get the vote. Very nicely made - good luck with yours …
How are you getting on with the Ananda, @Bjorn ?
I really like mine, such a lovely spacious sound. Sound leakage makes them not a favourite with my wife and the TV!
Yes, that’s the only downside to Ananda, that it leaks sound, but all open headphones do. Otherwise they are magically good I think.
Glad you like them @Bjorn… Ananda do seem to ‘leak’ more than my open LCD3, but then my wife complained once when I was listening with the (closed) LCD XC, so the Ananda are definitely too intrusive for her! I use them once she’s gone to bed.
I understand that can be a problem. Luckily for me my wife is not sensitive to the sound leaking and I also mostly listen to music, with or without headphones, in one of our old bedrooms that I turned into a music room.
Get some cover on that headband!
It will not stay clean long otherwise.
I am afraid you are right… It’s a topic long debated on Head-fi forum as well. To be considered…
Long suffering Focal Clear user here.
It’s a basic design shortfall.
