That’s my experience also. We used to keep a flock of a couple of dozen hens, mostly Black Rocks. Our cats pretended that the flock was invisible.
Ah…
I am unsure if Latika would be so cautious around chickens. As a 9-month-old kitten, I found him with a pigeon well on the way to being in kit form, with both wings detached and him dragging the body along the hallway, the wings were under the bed in the spare room. I am unsure if he had caught and killed it or if it had flown into the conservatory and was on the ground stunned.
Our last cat, sadly recently deceased, once brought home a LIVE magpie through the cat flap. Can’t imagine how he managed that! After I intervened the magpie flew off apparently unharmed.
Very recently one of my Maine Coon cats did exactly the same. We came home to find two cats looking at a window in the sitting room. There is a large pot plant on the window cill and I quickly discovered that the magpie was behind the pot plant, apparently unharmed but quite panicky and cross. When you get that close, you realise these birds have very large beaks!
Anyway the handle for the window was above where the magpie could reach from its “hiding place”, so I unlocked it and pushed the window open. A few seconds later the bird flew off, apparently no worse for wear.
I bet the cats weren’t very impressed ![]()
There was definitely a “Ugh? What just happened?” air in the room after.
You have very polite cats, my two young hooligans are less measured in their responses to me letting critters escape.
My lot bring critters in and once they’re in the house they want nothing more to do with them.
Actually had a mouse run out from under a sofa and straight past a cat who couldn’t give a damn.
I spend far to much time dealing with my pets, pets…![]()
She is gorgeous.
What a cutie. Gotta love a tortie! Hope she is well down the recovery road!
Sept was a very busy month and discovered I missed so much in that time. Really sorry @Richard.Dane & @SteveC about Louby & Sunny.
Our Misha left last year and her brother (left) has been diagnosed with cancer. Everyday is a gift and he has lost a lot of weight. We have adopted a new boy Benji (right), a rescue a couple of month ago. No they didn’t win any comp. This was taken during Olympics.
Thanks, hopefully she’ll get signed off tomorrow and will then be able to play out with Mum without the ridiculous outfit and lead!
And that’s an order
PS I do miss Mrs Houdini and her orders
