The original Concorde! This is a recently acquired Concorde 30 settling in on my Technics SL1210Mk2
By sheer fluke I also found a suitable low-mass counterweight, might even be the Ortofon one that these required.
Running through the NAC 12N and NAP 160 and I think the cartridge is gelling with the phono cards in the 12N as it’s the best I’ve ever heard it.

Nice! I think there is no better match, purely based on looks, between a Technics turntable and cartridge than with any of the Concordes.

I love the look of the Concorde on Technics decks. It takes away the cartridge to head shell connection but I am surprised that quite a few reviews state they’d preferred the Ortofon 2M variants to corresponding Concorde. Not sure why.

I’m a big fan of Nagaoka cartridges, I’ve used them for years on my then Rega Planar 3/RB 300.
How does it sound on the Denon?

I’ve always been a fan, primarily as I was using the DJ versions twice a week during the 90’s.
my take on the preference for the 2M series over the music series is this. The original Concorde is very low mass - I had to track down a 60g counterweight as the standard 100g Technics weight was never going to allow the arm to balance and even 60g is heavier than I’d prefer to get close to the pivot with a 1.5g tracking force.
The DJ Concordes have additional mass added around the finger lift, which for a 4g tracking force (at minimum, lol!) works very well. The new music Concorde also has this mass but is tracking at 1.5g so you’re in a “tail wagging the dog” scenario with that extra mass some distance away and high up above the stylus, back near the arm connection. In a conventional 2M and headshell setup, the mass is above the stylus so probably does work better.

The MP-150 has only been in place for a few days but is already sounding very good indeed. Got a great deal too with the headshell included.

Static is the hifi equivalent of the Norwegian Blue Parrot in my house. Extinct. Gone. Never to return. It is no more.
Having said that, that’s nothing to do with the cart and everything to do with my 2,000 record collection cleaned with Degritter.

So I have gone blue after a long line of DVs and other greats: troika, xx2, rua, xv1s, krystal and now Hana. They really are exceptionally well balanced.

Anyone heard or contemplating the new Hana umami black…? A hefty investment for sure.
I heard the Hana Black on a Clearaudio Master Innovation with the 12” Universal arm. I set it up for my dealer when they did an open house. It’s was my old turntable I traded in. They ran that through a Boulder 2100 series system (inlcuding the 2108 phono-stage) into Dynaudio Confidence 50 speakers. Another turntable in the same system was an AMG Viella with a Dynavector XV-1t cartridge.
The Hana Black is a fantastic sounding cartridge, and for $11k I would definitely consider it against others in the price range. I would want to hear how it compares to a Lyra Etna SL (I have an Atlas SL).
