Full circle moment for me. Have had this strain gauge for more than 10 years (maybe close to 15 years) but did not manage to get it to sound good. I’ve always mated this to a medium mass tonearm. Quite a few years ago, realised that this is a low compliance cart. By then, I’ve moved on to other carts. Anyway, due to a change of amp last few months, now looking to tune up the analog side of things. DS Audio good, Analog Relax good, Koetsu not so good, Phasemation also so so only. Decided to have a go with this. Hmmm, quite nice on a FR64S tonearm and Avid Acutus SP table.

My SPU Royal N, I think this might be worn out if I’m reading this right,
it’s taken with an iphone at the eyepiece of a laboratory microscope, no fancy USB scope to hand, illumination from one side so just one shiny wear mark can be seen, still sounded OK I thought but it has seen a few years. A new Gyger S, on a Goldring 1042 which I think has a similar profile to the Replicant 100 had no shiny patch visible.
I ran the proteus for a while which has a Gyger S mounted but getting that SPU itch again so thought I’d try the base model.
It’s bringing out bags of emotion but can be a bit of a wild ride when things get complex, thrilling stuff. Maybe not completely accurate but highly entertaining.

Lovely cartridge. I always look at these thin finger lifters and wonder how much vibration they feed back into the head shell … . More so if they are extra long such as yours. I have fitted a couple of tiny rubber O rings on mine as a precaution but that’s my OCD. It may be a complete non-issue.

Yeah, I think it’s a non-issue, but listen to your ocd as I listen to mine!
I’ve pimped it with some titanium headshell screws, the cart body is titanium, think it’s working out just lovely. Things seem to be coming on song big time. I really enjoy the Lyra/Naim synergy.
When I first mounted it and placed the stylus on to the vinyl I almost dropped my bacon sandwich with fright, a snare drum just wracked the R/H SL2 speaker, a sound so life like I thought it was a home invasion. Then I thought oh looking forwards this.

I guess one cannot align it to their liking? What alignment geometry does it use?
I have the AO PU7 on my LP12. When I had the Krystal it used the 3 point/screw mounting.
I assume the Trig B would be the same.
If so does that mean to install I just mount the Trig B with the 3 screws, balance the arm, set tracking weight and antiskate?
