Show us your Sondek

There could be a number of things. Have you changed the matt for another one; is it property earthed; check cartridge terminals; some people talk about humidity in the air; is power supply; have you contacted your dealer for advice?
Any way, good luck, Rack. I’m sure you’ll get it sorted.

When I bought mine, it was initially preceded by a Thorens as the Linn was a bit more then I had. I sat at home for two weeks thinking “this just is missing something…”

Had to go back after a fortnight and cough up. And of course, Hamish was absolutely right!

I was young & foolish at the time.

Unless you are feeling the same , I wouldn’t risk it!

Sorry for the grainy old scanned picture, but this is one of the few I have! This was before I traded the nytech 252 for my first naim - 42/snaps/160 - and in advance of the Black Ittok/Troika that was added.

Did that Nytech get much use, Geoff? Nice!

Every day - it was a really enjoyable integrated for it’s size.

I used my LP12 with a Nytech 252 plus two Nyteck power amps into active ARC 202 speakers a lovely system.

Still got my Nytech 252 in the attic. Used it for years.

Didn’t I read that any tech were being resurrected perhaps in a different guise?

Yep, back from the dead. Not sure if original premises but apart from new line they are also servicing old units.

Nice. Quite fancied one of those Nytech amps back in the day.

Thank you. They do seem to be rare. Combo works incredibly well. Replaced my Ekos 2.

Original Afro plinth from 1982, all else replaced. Cirkus soon to be upgraded with Karousel.

Is that the original arm board?

No, that arm board is about 10 years old. The Majik sub chassis had to be modded to accept that arm, a steel armboard would not have worked.

Hi RackKit. I had a similar problem when I moved to an LP12. The only thing that really worked was wet cleaning my records. The RCM brings other benefits so I am still happy. I had a Roksan Xerxes before for 30 years. It still had this issue but much less than the Linn. Strange.

Hi Stuart. I think there was already some static there but it seemed worse after playing. Looks like I’ll have to finally invest in a RCM. Which model did you go for?

Gotta look after that needle!

Cheers, Rack. :+1:t5:
