A Troika without fly leads that’s very different.

Well spotted! I did not commission the rebuild so had no say in the matter. I can think of pros and cons to the fly leads or not. Interesting that I am not aware of any modern cartridges that use them.
I’m embracing the non standard rebuild!! Accepting that it won’t sound like original from the 90’s but to my ears it’s incredible and considerably nicer to listen to than my Krystal.

Perhaps the still-current Linn Kandid, which does have fly leads, has been on the market too long to be considered modern.

I must admit I was surprised when I saw that the Ekstatik, the successor to the Kandid at the top of the Linn cartridge range, does not have have fly leads but instead has signal pins. The fly leads were a feature of every top-of-the range Linn cartridge from the Troika to the Kandid.

I’ve had a few different mats over the years but always gone back to original linn felt mat. Is the Collaro worth a punt?

Thank you Dan. It has been my best hifi friend for 43 years now and I couldn’t imagine life without it.

However, after more upgrades than I can remember the only 2 original parts now are the outer platter and the lid hinges. If revolver attracts me then the hinges will act alone.

Sorry to chip in on your question to Toon, but yes they are @Endon!

For £99 (or £120 for the black version I got), I was pretty surprised at the difference it made. It’s subtle on initial listen, but once you sit back and relax over a few albums, you definitely start to notice new elements being revealed.

I’ve been a very happy user for the last year!

I have just the plinth and top plate left on mine!

Yes, I found it a worthwhile improvement for sure. Many others testify the same. I don’t know how it does what it does but it seems to work. I guess we hifi nuts are well versed in the art of diminishing returns and, to an extent, the road never ends but after 52 years of buying and upgrading “stuff” I’m done.

So I would highly recommend a Simon Price plinth and a TA Karmen top plate :hugs:

So the Ekos SE when cueing sometimes veers violently to the right. It’s at dealers and tonearm is going back to Linn. Dealers inspected it thoroughly and couldn’t initially find the problem. But with perseverance they found it. I think Linn may strip the cueing arm down and service it at cost. Maybe they will strip whole arm down. I don’t know yet how they will fix it.

It’s a beautiful plinth. I have now listened to the TA Stiletto with Skorpion. Looks very nice stealth look. Was difficult to tell it’s virtues as was played through Statement. And it’s crazy money.

Happy sticking all Linn tbh. Done so many upgrades. Just want my LP12 back repaired!

Your deck is a masterpiece!
