Nice combo with the Tannoys!

And a clever idea, that light bulb.

Dimmable Philips Hue Filament light bulb (now also as ambient where you can chose the whiteness) :ok_hand:

I would be more concerned about the oil that didn’t leak - or lack of it.

New oil on the way. Looked down into it and there was plenty but will keep calm on playing until I’ve added a couple of more drops :+1:

I’m not sure what you’re referring to here. I’m not aware of any micro adjuster on this arm.

On the SA-250ST you should balance out the tonearm by setting the anti-skate to 0 and turning the counterweight until the entire arm floats without moving upwards or downwards. at this point carefully turn the indicator ring on the counterweight to show 0. Then turn the counterweight to the suggested tracking force for your cartridge as shown by the counterweight indicator. Set the anti-skate - usually the will be similar to the downforce but it’s best done by eye (look at the cantilever) and by ear. You can double check downforce the with some scales and make fine adjustments accordingly, or else by ear.

The counterweight contains of two parts. The bigger one and the micro adjuster. So you push the whole set in until the arm levels with the microadjuster set to 0. Then you use only that to set it to say 1.75g. But in this case nothing happens for me. It reads the same on the scale no matter how much I turn the micro adjustment wheel on the counterweight. Only way to change it is push the whole weight back/forward.

Yes, the “micro adjuster” here is just the counterweight indicator. Turning it will not change the weight at all - it’s just there to help you set the zero point when the arm is balanced, so you can then set the downforce you require. Only turning the entire counterweight assembly will alter the amount of downforce. When you turn it, the indicator will turn along with it. The instructions that come with the arm should explain all, or just see my post above.

No instructions came with it. This is an upgraded to Majik specs kit

Ah so the micro adjuster is nothing else than an indicator for the big weight. But the big weight is not threaded. It feels like the Rega one with a rubber resistance. How will it be able to move 1.75g inwards then. Hm.

Sometimes the threading on these counterweights is not so apparent, but it still operates that way.

Will give it a try just to make sure it works as intended :+1:

A week has passed with my first Linn LP12. It has a late 2020 oak plinth, top plate, outer platter, motor, Majik PSU and Adikt PU. Also a Cirkus kit + sub chassie from 2015 and a 2017 Majik (Jelco SA250ST) tonearm (I love the looks of the tonearm which is a great match with the LP12 design). I’ve just started the Linn journey but understand it should per specifications be a pretty decent LP12.

I’ve been through most Regas in the past. RP1, RP3, RP6, P8 and also a Vertere DG1 and VPI Scout. With none of them I’ve felt the cosy warm and close connection to it as a piece of hardware. The P8 might have been the best performer but for me vinyl records is more than performance and the P8 was a tiny bit of foam which didn’t connect with my heart. The Vertere DG-1 was a beautiful piece of hardware but I never fel trust in the arm for some reason. The Scout was as with a lot of American things bit too much for me. So with all these turntables visiting me and my record collection none have been able to connect with music in the bigger picture. I’d say it’s bit like what Naim and also Tannoy is to me. It’s a feeling of connecting to music more than anything else and that is rarely the same as a correct frequency curve for some reason.
