I used a reflex M for some time, lovely phono stage.
Highly recommended.

Is there any specific model of Graham Slee you are thinking of?

Happy to be owner of Kronos Pro Turntable!

I have a Reflex. The great thing about Graham Slee is that the vast bulk of their manufacturing is on phono stages , they don’t produce a One Size Fits All by combining MC and MM together, you buy a dedicated unit .

From memory for MM they operate at price points between £200 to £900 for MM

A jewel of course, but too much of everything, perhaps…

I upgraded the catridge on this Yamaha Bluetooth player (I wanted wireless if possible) to an ortofon bronze. I was playing it through my unitiqute2/100 combo with Quad 11Ls (first series) which were from 2007, and recently “upgraded” to the B&W 705 S2 speakers. The only major difference I noticed was the cartridge upgrade. It sounds as good/better than streaming. The B&W’s are lovely but truth be told - I don’t hear a major improvement that is worth the expenditure over the Quad 11Ls - I will never admit this at home though

Hi Cheshire,
That’s a really nice sharp photo of your cartridge. It’s well done…
I have had a life long interest in photography, so I notice these things. :grinning:

Finally, everything was meticulously installed by Martina Schöner.
Sound is hard to describe!

That looks so lovely. The matching cream arm base is an inspired idea.

I am afraid Garrard decks do nothing for me visually. My loss no doubt.

Looks like an Origin Live premium arm. Anything from an Encounter upwards

The 401 was a deck i hankered for back in the day on looks alone!
No idea how they sound, perhaps one day

@Ian:
It’s a “L‘Art du Son Transcription Reference Tonarm” - which is a modified Origin Live Enterprise. The arm is built to Martina Schöner`s specifications to match the Lyra Atlas cart perfectly.

I have 2 quick related questions for anyone out there with a similar kit (272+250DR).

  1. What Rega Planar model would you consider to have the SQ on par with what I have now? P6/Ania? P8? (I can only audition Regas )
  2. What phono would be good enough for the above mentioned? Rega Fono, Aria, Moon 110LP, Naim Stageline?

Thank you kindly.

Hi, @Dan.S. Having loved my c. 2000 Planar3 , and finally upgraded to a P10 1st Gen., I would advise you pick your price point, then buy with confidence. I find all Regas I have used and demoed make their case well at the price.

I’ll bet a new P3 would be pleasing in your system; but a P10 would not be wasted, either.

I had the Fono MM, which I demoed vs the Stageline. I eventually traded the Fono for an Aria, which added MC option. For MM I did not notice a huge difference between the Fono and Aria — Fono MM is very good!

Enjoy!

Nick
