I’m having troubles trying to quantify this information. Listening only to high-res or ripped albums, I’m interested in which Rega to invest to have at least the same SQ as I get from streaming. Don’t want to buy a turntable just to have something spinning in my room.
Ah, that changes it. I have a CDX2, ancient but still a lovely sound.
At the time I had a 200/202 , HiCap etc. I bought a Rega3 and was pleased with the warmth etc, but there was a big gap . later I simplified my system and bought a Fono.
I have neither now - if you are listening to HiDef downloads a Rega 3 , will give you a glimpse of the pleasure of vinyl but the moment you buy a vinyl copy of a favourite album - you will be aware of the gap.
I would go for a Rega 8 as a minimum , sure audition the 3 but do so side by side with a 6, 8 or. 10 that will show you the gap, and the Fono great with a 3 or 6, but upwards deserves a better phono stage.
I’d say a P8 with Ania Pro, which is what I have (and you can always upgrade the cartridge to an Apheta 3 for even better SQ). The Fono MC is surprisingly good (have used it on several occasions) and the Aria is better (I however had hum issues with the Aria that I couldn’t fix, so it went back - not severe but enough to bother me, but most probably caused by circumstances at my place since others don’t seem to have similar issues). Trichord Dino with external PSU and Vertere Phono-1 are two other phono stages in the same price bracket as the Aria that I can wholeheartedly recommend. I currently use the Trichord with my P8/Ania Pro and the Vertere with my LP12/Krystal.
People disagree as to which is better or worse between vinyl and digital in general; so quantifying the way you ask is potentially meaningless, unless you do it based on your own first-hand experience.
For example, I find hi-resolution more bother than the small improvements are worth; but I find playing records on both of the Regas I have owned very satisfying. It simply depends what you like and what you are sensitive to.
Some people find digital soulless; others find vinyl fatally flawed. I find each is compelling in different ways.
Good luck with your demos.

It’s mine all mine.
This was my 3rd turntable circa 1976, replaced about 1987. Great turntable, probably very underrated. The electronic touch controls failed, I should have got it fixed. Posting this prompted by seeing one for sale £200…if anyone wants a vintage turntable it’s well worth trying.
Damn. I had one of those. I gave it away to a friend of mine. I did have my Linn LP12 and my Thorens TD126C/II so was somewhat over-turntabled at the time.
I bought it around 1975 iirc. Still have the Thorens in its box in the garage, and still have the Linn. I still remember carrying home from one of those small hifi shops that Walthamstow was home to at the time.
The styling of Philips kit from this era is pleasing to my eye, I recall our fairly new 6th form music block at school was fitted out with this kit, it really irritated me that they rarely used it.
my first proper turntable in my bedroom around 1983 ish. great thing
You don’t need to do anything - the copyright is created automatically when the image is created and belongs to the creator in the first instance (unless they have previously signed a contract to the contrary).
It’s worth it. A good upgrade over stock.
Where is it?
The title is show us your turntable, not hide it so we have to guess where it is!
It’s underneath the glasses and empty tumbler, right?
I think it’s underneath that black and white tea towel?
Congratulations to this 3rd series beauty. Martina is one of the best adresses you can go to with a Garrard
I think that it’s a lovely system - perhaps in a different thread ?
In 2020- 2021 I am sure we have all had the odd mistake ?
I always consider it a success when I remember my trousers !!!
