Thanks Den, interesting conversation between yourself and TheGreatRoberto, now I’m really interested to see the photos. I’ll try to get one on home demo and take a listen. I wonder if the ability to add a high quality mains lead would also help.
The HR has a standard IEC socket. I make my own decent mains lead using Belkin 19364 cable, a decent plug and IEC connector. Do they make a difference? Dunno. What I do know is that I’m unwilling to pay silly money for mains cables ( not saying they don’t work). And making my own with decent components is a good compromise for me. And I know they have been made properly!
Hi FR, firstly this is a very friendly post - an observation as you continue to give great help to other forum members with information/pictures. It was just your excellent use of forum space talking about spacers with this post that I noticed - using space!
Best Regards, Geoff
As my standard power supply was handy, I thought I might save you a trip to the loft (and I have too much time on my hands). The photo shows standard on left and HR on right. I don’t really understand the workings of these things but they certainly look different.
You’re right, they are more different than I remember. The HR uses Trichords never connected technology. A huge transformer by comparison too.
Note the same pot. To adjust the speed in both PSUs.
Just doing s component count, that transformer on the HR must be the most expensive item. The other bits are pennies! All in the clever design I guess.
I can’t find any photos but the Wilson Benesch were also fine looking turntables.
Still are. These days they deal direct
No platter as such then ?
Clear acrylic would look cool.
Thanks TheGreatRoberto and Den, interesting to see the internals of both. I’ll definitely try to get one on loan and see how it sounds. Many thanks again
MoFi Ultradeck with their MasterTracker Cart into a Naim Stageline N. I’m not a big vinyl listener but I will say this deck sounds great to me. I had a chance to compare this with a Rega P8 at the dealer, I picked the Mofi.
I have my RP8 on the top of Fraim, directly above my phonostage. I’m not aware of any issues with that. It’s happy being on top of the Fraim brains stack.
Rega put a nice long cable on the tt power supply, which is designed to make it easy to keep it far away. I keep mine over on the brawn Fraim.
Thanks for that info Bart, I am not sure my phonostage will even fit between the Fraim posts. I may have to split to 2 stacks, rotate the posts 90 degrees, or site it elsewhere. I do have my TV stand sitting next to the Fraim. I will figure it all out when I get it home.
In the meantime I have been looking at albums online that I want, holy crap, some of them are not cheap…
This is my gorgeous Xerxes 20+ that has been chronicled in the “Loud cracks on vinyl replay, again” thread.
No, I don’t have one, but I listened to a few tracks on one at the Vertere factory last year, it was very impressively musical, especially for the money. I thought it came close to my much loved TMS that we’d played the same tracks on, Touraj preferred the DG-1.
