Other experiences with Lyra and Rp10 , same as mine :

The Lyra Delos was pure magic on my RP10 until my now ex GF broke the cantilever off while house sitting when I was away some time ago.
The rebuild was more than I paid for the Delos to begin with so I grabbed an Apheta 2 which is really quite good but the Lyra was really stunning on the RP10.

I have been using a Lyra Kleos on mine since day one. In advice from Jonathan Carr (Cart designer) I was able to acquire shims for 3.5mm at the base of the tonearm. Mr Carr recommended 3.4mm but unless I have shims specially machined, which I may do someday, I figured .1 mm can’t be that crucial with varying LP thickness.
Something to ponder should you decide on Lyra, I think they are all the same height. But I do find the Rega and Lyra work well together when set up correctly. Years ago I had a Rega P25 and used a Benz Glider and traded to a Lyra LydianB and found the Lyra much more pleasing.
Another great match for the RP8 and P9 (so most likely a good match for the RP10 as well) is the Lyra Delos and the Ortofon Cadenza Bronze. I’ve had great luck with both of those cartridges in those other two tables.
Thanks. I bought the HR supply fairly soon after the Gyro. I found it made a very worthwhile overall improvement, especially to the timing. It also allows for speed adjustment. As usual, try before purchase if possible.
I had the Lyra Delos on my P9 using spacers to lift the tonearm.
For my taste, the Delos and the P9 were no good match, the music left me cold, unmoved.
Now using the Dynavector 10x5 Neo MK2 (very different to the standard 10x5) which seems to be a better fit with the P9: more details than the Delos and a more engaging listening experience.
Delos and P10 might be a different story, never heard this combination.
In all cases better listen before buying, as always.
Some will prefer Dynavector, other Benz, or Lyra or Koetsu…
I had Koetsu black on the P9 then a Van Den Hull frog that I enjoyed a lot.
Delos now on Rp10 and find it marvelous and very lively.
Apparently the Rb 2000 arm can carry much better carts than the Rb1000 on P9, what I read and heard also from my dealer.
Haha. Interesting though as if you look inside the Gyro HR it is just the standard power supply in a fancy box. Inside the regular PSU there is also a speed adjustment screw, albeit you have to go inside to adjust. Think they were made by Trichord.
The new Technics SL1500c available in black or silver for less than £1000 looks a steal and a great starter deck for someone serious about records.
100 % agree. It’s specially well built for the money!
I like that black finish too.
Are you saying that the HR PSU offers no improvement over the standard power supply?
I should have asked for a copyright…
I’m not sure it really does. I bought me be second hand. New they are a lot for what is inside. You can see they are the same sort of PSU design as Trichord. And it’s no secret of the association between the two firms.
There is no feedback loop from the motor to the PSU, do the PSU should just output a fixed, non variable DC voltage. The same as the regular one.
Interesting. Whatever is inside, I still think it makes a very worthwhile improvement. Not cheap though.
I try to convince myself the same! It’s got a nice switch and sort of matches the PSU and pre amp from Trichord that I have. 3 more black boxes that confuses my wife
I have the older silver version. Thankfully my wife isn’t confused. She thinks it sounds better too. Perhaps I can convince her some new speakers would as well.
If I can remember at the week end, I’ll get the original PSU out of the loft and open it up for photos to compare. You’ve got me wondering now…
You must be getting bored. I will always maintain the same rule regarding hi fi - trust my own ears regardless of anything else and I’m not usually easily pleased. Hope your loft is cleaner than mine. Have fun.
I can not show you my turntable yet, I pick it up next week. I will post some photos when it is all set up and running. I have not owned a turntable since late 1987 , so I am really excited about reliving my youth. I traded my Dynaudio XD 600’s on a Rega RP10 with Apheta 2 cartridge, and the phonostage will be Musical Fidelity Nuvista Vinyl. The RP10 will sit on top of my Fraim, but maybe I can get some advice on the power supply and phono stage. I have 5 levels of Fraim, do I need to keep the power supply and phonostage away from the TT? I could possibly split into two stacks if needed.
I am curious to read you next.
I will not advise on ps set up position, because I feel each can have different results.
Personally my ps of the Rp10 sits in another rack as the tt.
RP10 is v good, keep the phono stage far from the PSU and other power boxes if possible.
