super nice! I have the Jelco on SP10 table that appears a while ago in the thread. I dig your Acoustand plinth
Thank you!
I inherited it mounted in cabinet, and with Stax UA7 and SME 3009 Mk2 tone arms.
I was keen to both restore it and make it look more contemporary.
Lee at Acoustand was fantastic - he did a great job.
Great room Josquin!
Thanks so much. It is a joy in our lives.
Talking to my brother yesterday reminded me that he has my Roksan Xerxes. He said the plinth was warped but wondered if it can be replaced. A search of the web reveals it can be done, and that one company offers an upgrade service. Has anyone had experience of upgrading a RX?
Speaking of rooms… How is it going, have you decided whether to move the system down to the living room?
Wow. I’m very much at the humble end here!
Rega 3 rb300 turntable I bought 1990, goldring 2100 MM cartridge, pro-ject phono stage.
Rega P8 with Apheta 3 and Aria phono stage here. I haven’t been using vinyl much recently to be honest. My 552 has just been serviced so using the ND555 to run in.
We’re still thinking about doing that, but not during the summer. That will have to be a winter project.
What would be the advantage? That is, if you move it.
It’s a larger room, 13’ x 22’ vs 11’ x 17’. It will be better casting a larger soundstage with my speakers, which should be an improvement for classical orchestral music. It will also accommodate more people to listen if we want to have guests over for music.
Getting rid of my Technodec was not my biggest audio mistake but was certainly one of my bigger ones , it was a lovely bit of kit and I should have put the Techno Arm and a decent cartridge like Ortofon Bronze or Black
Thanks Ian yes it is a good turntable and also works with slightly more expensive cartridges, I use a Hana ML myself.
This is my P8 just fitted with the new Rega Nd7 MM Cartridge. Only done a five hrs run in so far but it’s sounding great straight out of the box.
I have to ask a dumb question. Looking at the Nd7, is the stylus even replaceable on that MM?
No it’s not replaceable. But Rega has a rebuild scheme. This is from the Rega website
Rega rebuild scheme
The unique pivot pad design of Rega cartridges improves performance by eliminating the mechanical joint between the stylus housing and the main body. This vastly improves tracking ability and stability of the stylus. If you should damage or wear out your Rega cartridge, simply return it to you Rega dealer and they will supply you with a rebuild cartridge fitted with a new cantilever, stylus and pivot pad. Each rebuild is fully tested as a new cartridge would be. The rebuild is sold at a reduced price once you trade in your worn or damaged cartridge that is equivalent to a replacement stylus offered by other manufacturers.
This old girl has been rescued from the attic
Hasn’t seen the light of day for some time
Just cleaned and lubed looking pretty cool
Time to find my vinyl
Cripes that’s a lovely looking deck.
