Always loved Avids.

Me too! I was drawn to them because, 1) it’s good quality British engineering, like Naim, 2) I think they look pretty cool, 3) they are low maintenance once set up (no need to oil bearing etc).

Oh yes, they sound pretty good too :joy:

Thanks I’ve listened to some of my favourite albums this evening I’m a couple of tracks into the fourth side of Pink Floyds The Wall which is the first album I ever purchased in 1984 so know it well.

I just moved my simple vintage MM cart a A&R P77 (with Jico SAS 1 stylus) off of my Thorens TD125 with SME 3009 arm onto the SL1300G and it’s honestly been a bit of a eye opener I thought the TD125 & SME 3009 arm sounded really good many sing it’s praises but the Thorens sounds totally out classed in comparison to the Technics, Im really stoked with the performance.

The Technics decks design doesn’t really benefit from a weight or clamp. You’ll almost certainly find the 1300 sounds either better without or no different.

Very nice

SL-1300G here too.

Had a pair of SL-1210mk2’s towards the end of the 90’s and regretted selling them around 2004. After years with various Rega and Gold Note I went back to my roots with Technics. Couldn’t resist the SL-1300G when I saw it.

Can I ask how you are finding 1300? I have the SL1500 and want to upgrade to the 1300 and I’m trying to work out if it’s worth it.

Looks beautiful by the way.
