The SL-1000 is a SP-10 in a Technics plinth with a Technics tonearm. I guess it could be an advantage or disadvantage depending on implementation. For me it was easier to get the package that works well together.

…..and in the overall scheme of things not expensive. Recently I tried it without using the damper and was quite shocked at the drop off in performance. They are nicely made and fit the arm like a glove. I will post a pic

like Ian I went for the whole caboodle but I have been thinking about an OMA plinth. There are those that say (Fremer being one ) that it takes things to a whole new level.

How would you describe the effect of the damper? Also how often do you have to change the fluid?

The Thorens TD160 shown earlier looks really great , with the ash coloured plinth. I had one with a SME 3009 Mk11 back in the day. Wish I had it now. Progressed to an LP12 with Basic LV V. Both were sold a long time ago. Now getting back into vinyl. With a Technics SL303 into a Naim Muso. Hoping to progress to a separates setup when funds permit. Still have a Quad 34/405. Will be looking for a turntable and speakers. Managed to hold on to my Sound Organisation turntable stand and separate equipment stand. Really enjoying all of the different topics and peoples system discussions.

I’m lucky to own 3 turntables. I use a Thorens Td 160 in another System . In my front room is a Technics 1500c 2m Bronze cartridge and a Lenco l75 Goldring e3 cartridge. For phono stages I use Rega fono and Project . I enjoy the sound of all 3 . Sometimes I think of fancy Mc Cartridges but most of time I’m not to fussed . I’m fortunate to have collected a serious collection ( It took 45 years ) but I still play cds . I thought about streaming but tbh I don’t really need it. I did once have a tuner but I got rid off it. Politics & lame or poorly recorded music put me off. I’m currently going through a late 70s early 80s Soul phase

Lovely turntable and a great album. And listening on vinyl really is the (George) best way to hear a band like The Wedding Present. They have been touring the UK recently - have you had a chance to see them live? Highly recommended.

No streaming for me. Have had my LP12 best part of 35 years and a record collection built up from my university days and this does me just fine.
Didn’t manage to see the Wedding Present on their latest tour. Seen them many times in my youth but the dates just didn’t work for me this time around! Off to see another old favourite - Half Man, Half Biscuit - next month though.

I’ve had the RS some months now, at a guess it has 150 hours on it, perhaps a little more. Very pleasing it is too, has certainly benefitted from running in.
A few tweeks made.
It’s a long run to the phono stage in the nait 50, so I swapped the interconnects for some lower capacitance ones which helped reduce the hum that started to creep in at about quarter to on the volume dial and no doubt didn’t help the overall SQ.
Then I twigged there are no naim sources linked up, so I earthed the nait to a plug and now no hum at all until about quarter past, which never happens. SQ better too!
Did some experimentation with isolation and ended up with my home made jobby of two pieces of 9mm hardwood ply, sandwiching a rubber sheet, plonked on three little hard sorbothane feet. This gave a very nice uplift.
Need to neaten off the edges and may experiment further with adding a rigid steel sheet on top, if I can find one.
