Signal earthing

Hi all, I would like to ask for your advices regarding the signal earthing.

I got 3 sources into 32.5/HC/250:

  1. Naim CDI (signal earthing ref, connected with Lavender);
  2. ND5 XS2 (set to floating, connected with Lavender);
  3. LP12 (Ittok’s earthing lead connect to sub-chassis and 32.5, connected with BNC plugs)

My questions:

  1. Is it the best practice to disconnect the Ittok’s signal earthing to both subchassis and 32.5 to maintain ‘single earthing ref’? I disconnected it, the hum from the refrigerator gone. The system now sounds more dynamic, bigger sound but worrying if it’s because of the noise;

  2. Does my have to be CDI always on to keep the earthing ref working?

  3. Should I wrap the earthing lead’s hook with stuff (plastic? Paper?) to stop it from collecting the RF if the answer of 1) is yes?

Thanks a lot that would be very helpful, I found it really affecting the sound.

The LP12 will sound best if only that one is connected to the Nac 32.5.

The CDI does not need to be powered on to provide earth.

Hi Igel, do you mean the LP12/32.5 sounds best with only one source (ie LP12) connected? Thanks!
