Hi, looking at the tweeter from behind, you can see that there is a good amount of glue/ silicon surrounding the tweeter tags. Anybody know the benefits for doing this? looks to me that it just supports the wire weight. Is that it?

I don’t know about SL2, but silicon (mastic) ‘blobs’ are used to fix & support wires to prevent stress on the terminals

They are also used to seal the tweeter tags to stop air being pushed or pulled through the tweeter housing when used in a sealed box type speaker cabinet.
