Does anyone use a music server for Small Green Computer or have an opinion about them? As I understand it, they have Roon, Audirvana, MinimServer and Squeezebox as one of the options that you can install in their interface, by just selecting it.
The problem is that I will have to pay customs and VAT, which is a lot anyway. Can’t really find a dealer in the EU
I take it diy is out if the question, but it’s very simple and much cheaper to build your own intel nuc and install “rock” for roon or whatever else you need. The nuc just needs storage and memory added, which these days are both chips. £400 or less.
I ordered directly from their website to germany. I have the i5 version. Terrific piece of kit, a breeze to use and set up. I upgraded the power supply with Sbooster. You can use Roon, Audirvans and other software on it. Can recommend without hesitation.
I’ve heard this from two dealers. They have to invest about three times as much on demo products as they do today, and if they don’t sell them out and buy new ones within a year, they won’t give a warranty to their customers.
I see. I do believe the whole industry is shaky with more extreme methods to keep sales going. I’m sure Naim and others are doing their part of this game too in some way.
On a similar note, I wondered if anyone has any experience adding a separate power supply to a Nucleus or Nuc? I noticed Small Green Computer sell one for a very reasonable amount that is still reasonable even after import duties etc. The others I’ve seen online would cost me more than I paid for my Nucleus!
Hi and thanks for sharing, that is useful to know. I may well go for this Small Green Computers power supply given it is a reasonable amount. I did also see ones by MCRU and PLiXiR, but they cost £750-1500…
