I like this. Something along these lines would be the simplest approach for me to take. My only hesitation is the cable duct to the TV. The perfectionist in me was hoping to avoid that, but I see you’ve done a good job of hiding it, so maybe I should try to overcome my reticence…
That’s understandable. I’m more of the mindset that the furniture is mine until the time when/if I decide to sell it, so I care mostly about its suitability to me rather than to a potential next owner. I’m also usually able to do these things reasonably cleanly, so I wouldn’t just “butcher it”.
I share your aversion to the cable ducting, which is why I spent a few hours yesterday running cables behind the walls to a new wall-mounted TV set.
