SN2 vs SN3

I know I’m a little bias… But reading some of these comments makes me feel like there is a reason the SN3 costs a bit less than the SN2…Kind of troubling IMO.

Essentially there is one poster on here who has posted frequently with an issue he has had with one unit when driving a difficult-to-drive pair of speakers at high volume in a large room. Not sure that is really a good basis to have concerns for the SN3 when it has been more or less universally praised since launch across the HiFi community

No problems with mine neither. I performs great so I have focused on the difference I hear between SN2 and SN3. Both are great amps in slightly different way so personal preferences matters (as always).

The SN3 is almost identical to the SN3,

They are not less well built that the sn2 for sure, Sn3 production and R.D.cost is more absorbed within the years.

The Sn3 is the mid series in the Naim hiearchy and is the biggest part of their sale so i think is more a product placement strategy.

They are always made by hand whit the same meticulous attention in Salisbury.

I’m sure that the SN3 is exactly identical to the SN3 :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

MMky may i know what are the speakers you use and what kind of music are you listening to.

I’ve an opportunity for a second hand SuperLumina for my NDX2 to SN2, sounds like this was a worthwhile upgrade for you, how has it worked out?

I’ve been offered one also for a extremely good price. currently using the HiLine tho and not sure how much improvement it can bring over this As I was gobsmacked when I replaced the standard IC

Interesting, and we have quite similar systems I see.

My SN3 has died :frowning: It worked yesterday and I put it to mute as I always do by night. When I unmute this morning there was total silence from one channel. If I put in my SN2 in the same setup everything works.

Sorry to here about the SN3 having problems.

Could you give me your thoughts on how do you like the Harbeth’s SHL5 Plus with the SN2 & SN 3?

Thanks…

I would definitely demand a replacement unit - not a repair.

I love the Harbeths with the Naim. I think it’s a great match in terms of sound signature. I would like some more power but it’s not urgent but I’ve heard the SHL5s with 2x300w and know they respond great to it.

Have contacted the distributor and awaiting reply. Not sure what Naim policy is when products break within a couple of months from production. I wonder what happened  Luckily I still have my SN1 and SN2 left which are doing just fine

Sorry too to hear about your new SN3 having problems; IMHO the founctioning of mine wasn’t any normal one, but I still don’t know if it’s so or if it’s a fault unit, and probably I never will know.

Cheers.

If I spent $4.5K on a piece of gear, I’d expect to be very satisfied, if not thrilled with it.

But are the Supernaits 2 and 3 both not so good at low volumes?

Because I’d like to get one but listen every night at low or very low volumes.

Very good at low volumes. I use my SN3 very quietly at times - no problems at all.

I answered on the other thread. Glad you liked it. Quite the uplift hey? was the most noticeable upgrade to sound I’ve made. (Including Powerlines and even XPSDR! I did add prior to getting the XPSDR in fairness, getting a really good ex demo deal probably helped too :))
