So bored, I know let's build a new rack

Just wondering how anyone with the great music systems they own on these forums can get bored.
I’m just loving all this extra time to listen to more music

Quite easy really as i am an active guy that normally works from 7.30 to 5.30 every weekday in the construction industry running my own business and can’t stand to sit around all day for to long, even if i have a great system and great music to listen too, as its just not normal to me.

My wife was the opposite, i needed a hifi rack and at the time my complete hifi system was naim, went to see a fraim rack and she said no way its horrible and so had to go looking for an alternative, but now i have moved it all into a separate room, i could possibly go fraim, but then i dont have as much naim gear now and some off my gear is just too big for it and others just dont work on it at all

Me too. I usually have to set aside time to listen to music but in the current situation I am enjoying unlimited time to listen. So no boredom for me

So sorry to hear that Brian.
I empathise as I had a very similar incident happen to me a couple of years back.
I was knocked off my bike by a nutter white van man. Multiple injuries including a fractured and compressed vertebrae which required my wearing a full body TLSO Brace. I was apparently 1cm away from being paralysed.
The one thing, apart from the care of my lovely wife, that helped me through all the pain and long recovery was having the value of music to take my mind and spirit elsewhere.
Hope your recovering well and tuned in.

I completely understand that. One of our relations is a builder with his own company and he’s always on the go. In fact he is still working, observing distancing of course. To be confined to home wound drive him (and his wife) potty.

You also had a rough time I was lucky to survive thanks to the wonderful nhs. I have physio 3 times a week which has helped and Iam driving. I always had
Poor quality audio thanks to naim life has improved
My taste is classic rock . Jazz. Classical music.
I still prefer live gigs eagles stones Springsteen . Etc.
Let us hope by may we can get on with our lives.
Take care.

Brian - a close encounter with death certainly gives perspective. I was hit by a half blind 89 year old who shouldn’t have been driving and ended up in an induced coma after epileptic seizures. The staff in the ICU were simply wonderful and I couldn’t have wished for better. The skull fractures healed but I still get confused, cannot cope with stress, and need a sleep in the afternoon nearly four years on. But at least I got ill health retirement.

My music has been an absolute godsend and am so fortunate to have a nice stereo to listen to it on, with help from the insurance from the accident.

Try checking out on line record shops, I think many are still operating. I am finding this enforced downtime a great opportunity to catch up listening to the mountains of mostly LP’s I have been buying lately during the time when there was only 24 hours in a day.
I thought if this lockdown continues I might start listening to my record collection alphabetically and see how far I get, there will be some fun rediscovered on that journey I reckon.
Wishing you a speedy recovery

I like to go to my local record shop in Manchester he has great secondhand stock coming all the time and I part exchange some cds that I no longer want also I know the salesman so we chat about music . I also like going into town for a drink. When this chaos ends I must make up what I have missed. As you are aware the music shops are closed. Enjoy the sun while it lasts

Sorry to hear about all the problems and feeling humbled.
I will just go sit in the corner and play music lol, but really for someone like myself always doing stuff, i do find it difficult after a while just doing nothing

Thanks Brian, Were fortunate to have a garden so yes spending more time chilling in the sun and listening to choons.
On Monday, I spent all day in the garden listening to the music of Culture and reading a recent book about the band, I posted it on the Reggae thread.
Like I said while were being told to stay home, some online specialists are still shipping records if your itching for a browse.
Juno records & Diverse Vinyl to name just two examples.

I feel guilty having this amount of time to myself so I’ve been getting on with a load of jobs in the house and garden. I’d get even more done but need some things from the DIY & paint shops to get on with it. A frustrating time all round.

It is good we have gardens. I can purchase by mail order but I love record shops I have enough cds to keep me going box sets etc.
Enjoy the sun

This lockdown’s costing me a bloody fortune! Too much time to read all the music threads, have a quick check out via Spotify, then it’s onto Amazon, Discogs etc. Great fun though!
