Some advices with my six boxes

I need some advice on how to arrange devices in a tower position. I don’t have the option of doing anything else, i.e. having the power devices on the right and the brains on the left.

I know I can probably find some suggestions in another thread. But I need to know what I’m doing and why this stacking order is preferable. Is this advice specifically from Naim, or is it just guesswork that has gradually emerged in various threads? Although I know there are rules…

My units are positioned with a minimum distance of 15 cm between each box.

I have a small living room for my system, 4 x 4 metres, and my speakers are Dynaudio Contour S 1.4 LE. I have tried experimenting with a minimum distance of 1.5 metres between each speaker because I think my room is suitable for it.

I know that my preamplifier should be at the top. So the order from the top is:

252
CDX2
300 main
Supercap
555PS
300PS

Is this fine, or is there a significant difference in placing the order differently? I would be grateful for any reasoned advice on placement.

Cheers Peter

I think you have got it right, my only suggestion would be (if possible ) put an extra level into your rack to put a gap between the sauce and power

That looks ok, but bear in mind that you are aiming to keep the burndies off the floor. It may help to have the 300PS above the 555PS for that reason. You can always try putting the burndies in position from the front with no boxes on the rack, just to work out which order is likely to be best.

Thanks Ian. My source is CDX2 and I have 22 cm down to 300, and 45 cm down to Supercap

Thanks HH. No burndies touching the floor and wall right now

That’s great.

My stack is in a tower….pretty similar to yours…with burndies well off floor and cables separated out where possible. Gives pretty good results….but I suspect still sub optimal…compared to brain brawn stacks….

I think it sounds pretty good now. I wonder if it might sound even better with a different setup, especially considering how well the boxes are insulated against electrical interference.

I positioned the psu boxes at the bottom then Nap 500 above….then 552…and finally ND555. I wanted to use the 500 to shield the 552 from the big power supplies….the ND555 is ontop this is pretty sensitive…..maybe this could be improved….I am happy as it is …it sounds fabulous…..I don’t use the fraim system….I use the Atacama Evoke SE…it’s pretty good. I am sure I am going to be in for allot of criticism…..:face_with_peeking_eye:

It sounds like you have a wonderful system, the end point, I would say. It makes sense to use NAP as a shield. I use my NAP 300 as a “shield”

Thanks yes….it is kinda my end game setup…although if I came into a sensible wedge or my investments doubled….I would love an S1 Preamp…. I was about to buy a 300 amp when I stumbled across an amazing deal on a 500…

The usual advice is to put the 552 on top. Whether you can hear a difference is anyone’s guess.

So, I am once again asking for advice and some maths from knowledgeable users. The last time I posted here, I was advised to use the following setup.
I suffer from having too little space and, ironically, I have too many boxes, and I can’t see how I can do without them. As you know, I only have the option of stacking them vertically.

252
CDX2
300 main
Supercap
300PS
555PS

Now I have the opportunity to try out an NDX2. Where would you put it in the correct order? My 555 feeds my CDX2. That’s why I’m thinking of playing on the NDX2 raw
The challenge is, of course, my burndys

I have this dilemma and a very small room…contry to some advice here after experimenting and trying to get burndies neat…I ended up with my ND555 ontop of 552….then Nap500 and then power supplies….it’s given me excellent results…..but I totally get that a brain and braun approach is better….
