It’s funny how the likes of Springsteen are selling up whilst Foggerty is over the moon at Glastonbury because he got his catalogue back after years of fighting. I guess we can expect Foggerty to sell his catalogue on at some point?
He’s happy to own them again (after he legally and knowingly sold them) so he can sell them like Springsteen.

Much the same as a vinyl disk, or a CD disk, without the case and often without sleeve artwork/notes: You own the file and can keep it to play in perpetuity, without subscription or an online streaming provider. But it has the advantage of being easy to back up to avoid losing in the event of fire or theft, and potentially can gives you a recording identical to the original master, and which can remain pristine after even the 1000th play.
Really? Did you type or dictate this on someone else’s? For reference a more correct name for a smartphone is a pocket computer, while a tablet is simply a mini all-in-one computer.
However, whilst you can download music files onto either such device, that indeed is not usually the best way to get the to play through a hifi system.
Splitting hairs. I’m guessing most folk think lap top or something bigger when a computer is mentioned. Tablet. Phone. I don’t believe either allow me to buy downloads from Qobuz to which I subscribe, even if I wanted to?
I think you can actually buy and download on either a tablet or pocket computer (aka smartphone), - I seem to recall people saying they have - but whether usable with hifi as opposed to just on the device I have no knowledge, and certainly of no use for streaming from your file if you don’t have DAC and rendering device or software…

There is a 2 album selection version that is more affordable.
But given that Springsteen signed over rights to Sony music to his back catalogue it is Sony who set the price not him so you need to blame them. I agree £30 per disc give or take a bit is top-end pricing, particular when you compare it to new music releases from the likes of Pulp for under £23 for an album.
That is not entirely true any media including data files held on hard disc or SSD can degrade/corrupt over time although it is more likely to cause blips/dropouts or unplayable files rather than poor sound overall.
With the new Bruce LP box set there is not just a set of LPs but a hardback book that is rather good not just sleeve notes. Still, that is only likely to be of value to a long term fan but the set is well packaged overall.
He didn’t have to sell and must have had some control over the terms of the sale. It’s not the price, it’s the price for stuff from the cutting room floor which grates for me. And was Bruce just an innocent beneficiary of dynamic ticket pricing? I see a pattern but understand others don’t. I’ll wait for the fire sale 
I am not saying he is not benefitting and for sure he has been a participant in the production of the set but whatever your bitterness towards him he did not set the price. That was Sony.
When you have signed over rights to a catalogue of work you have lost control of what happens to it. As mentioned above Sony need to recoup and make a profit on the $500million USD they paid.
As far as “cutting room floor” the set is not spare recordings from sessions to produce previously released albums but albums not released. Have you listened to any of the tracks? Why they were not may point to them not being up to standard or not suitable for the times. From what I have heard so far they are not a bunch of “seconds” but well produced. that may not be true of everything.
If you think the LP set is expensive you should see the price of the CD equivalent set. In the UK it is around £225 for 7 CDs so very little different to the LP set.
I’m not bitter, I’m disappointed (sad even) in an artist who seems to have lost touch with his roots.

If you don’t like it don’t buy it. It is as simple as that. It should be about the music.
It is a fallacy to think anyone who has been a multi-millionaire for decades is still blue collar or anything like.
Indeed, however that can be guarded against with a good backup regime that includes periodic full backups, leaving only a very low risk of irretrievable data loss/corruption
True that helps but even copying can introduce error it is not always a faithful copy.
It’s really not a fallacy to think people exist who make money, remember their roots and don’t rip folk off. Remember this is the bloke who made an album of Pete Seeger songs saying on his passing “I lost a great friend and a great hero last night, Pete Seeger,”. And that’s politics so I’ll leave Tracks 2 alone now 
So no you have not listened to the music as I thought. It is supposed to be about the music. Again, Sony set the price not Springsteen.
Personally, I have never been interested that much in anyone’s personal life whether I am a lifelong fan or not. I don’t read musicians or bands biographies. What they are like is not that important to me I am never going to know them or be their buddy.
It’s up to you what you think, believe or do, buy or don’t buy your choice.
This is sort of why I still buy a lot of CDs. HDTracks geoblocking has really upped their game and even a VPN doesn’t work now. Last I heard from them, they validate:
- The country of your credit card
- The language version of your OS
- The timezone of your browser
In addition to the standard IP based geoblocking nonsense. I know they are sort of contractually required to do this but buying downloads literally can take an hour of scouring a dozen sites to see which one has it and will not block me and increasingly he answer is no. I used to just fire up a VM on AWS in the US zone and purchase from there but now that they even reject credit cards in certain countries that path has closed too.
I’m a huge Springsteen fan but I don’t think being a fan requires one to be a completist. Like there are people constantly buying the regularly dug up Beatles or all the post humus Prince stuff. They didn’t release that stuff for a reason. When things like this Springsteen collection crop up I’m always torn. If it’s good then great. But if it was buried for a reason I might hear it and it could shatter my image of them.
