Any Springsteen fans get Tracks II yet? I had about 10 mins of free time yesterday and managed to get through one and a half songs. Not sure if it’s best to listen chronologically, or if there’s a particular standout album in there to put on first. Was just going with whatever order Tidal has streaming.
Everything it’s cracked up to be for those into this sort of thing? Interested to hear some early views if they’re out there.
Yes bought the box. Lovely package. Listened to all albums a couple of times each. Very happy with it. Lots of excellent music to explore and get to know in the coming weeks…
I quite liked the ‘83 album and could see me playing that one again but couldn’t really get into any of the others, just not my cup of tea. That said, I am not a huge Bruce fan (I do like Darkness, Born to Run and Nebraska) so maybe I am not best placed to comment.
Yes indeed. I just received my copy today. The set is not the best value for money at £30 per LP record but it is packaged well and the hardback book pretty good.
Dynamic ticket pricing & exorbitantly priced outtakes feels like blue collar Bruce has gone full on cash cow. Given the price charged for his wonderful Tracks box set I’m struggling to understand where the working man’s hero is coming from with this box set. Too dear to even pop on my birthday list which is sad as We love Bruce. I’m sure it’s great stuff & anyone who buys it will surely enjoy it but the pricing for outtakes makes this one for completists I fear.
I’m not a great fan, his greatest hits & a live double album being all I own of his music.
I have had the new collection streaming in the background for the past couple of days &, only half listening, the majority of the material did nothing for me.
However, there was enough that did catch my ear to make me listen to the whole set again rather more carefully.
A slight connection. In September 2007 my late wife & I were staying in the Hyatt hotel, next to Grand Central Station, New York. Walking up 5th Avenue early one morning we heard an extremely loud noise sounding like Springsteen.
We followed the noise to the Rockefeller Centre & were staggered to find Bruce & the E-Street band performing outside the NBC (I think) studio, being broadcast live on Good Morning America or some similar program.
Not the sort of thing we get in early morning Truro…
I don’t own a computer which leaves downloads out of the question I think. That said I don’t really get bought downloads. Thank you for the suggestion though. It’s certainly a tempting deal for downloaders
I like to own something I can hold in my hands. I also love paper files, filing cabinets, card indexes and notebooks My Qobuz subs give me streaming access and don’t feel a need to own streamed digits. I’m far from alone I believe.
