perhaps this is of some help:
I use Grado Gold, which I think works excellent with SN3 phono stage.
I have another question. Do I leave the SN3 on when not using it? Or do I turn it off?
By the way, welcome to the forum! ![]()
This this is probably good insight ![]()
Turn it off at nights or when out.
I donât see a line out/tape out on the SN3. Can I not use this to record cassettes?
There are two two Record outs on the Supernait 3 that you can use to connect a recorder - on the AV in/out and on the Stream in/out. You will need a suitable DIN5 - 4 x RCA Phono tape interconnect such as the on shown in the FAQ here;
Just Superlines that are no longer subject to elective servicing.
@Thegreatroberto
Thanks for clarification.
Got my lines crossed.

Leave mine on 24/7 unless weâre out of town, but I listen to music every day.
So a normal DIN5 with 2 RCA wonât do? It has to be DIN5 with 4 RCAs?
If your â normalâ 5 pin din is wired to take a signal out, rather than in, then it will work. Just make sure you specify signal out.
A regular DIN5 - 2 x RCA phono wonât work. It will be fine for playback but wonât work for recording. You could of course re-solder the DIN so the REC pins are connected. Or you could have a custom one made up (but be careful as you may later wonder why it doesnât work for regular playback). That will allow you to record using it, but it then wonât work for playback. A DIN5 - 4 x RCA phono interconnect though can be used for both recording and playback, which allows for record monitoring, and can be purchased off the shelf with no need for any butchery or re-soldering.
ahh I just need it for recording. So how do I set it up if using the SN3, Nakamichi CR-2A, CD player/TT.
Surely youâll want playback from your Nak and well as recording?
I use the DIN5 - 4 x RCA Phono interconnects from either Naim or Chord (Chrysalis) myself - brilliant, and really inexpensive secondhand.
I got a 5 pin DIN to 4 x RCA Rec/Play cable made by Flashback Sales back when they were in business. Canât imagine life without it!
