Quick question aimed probably to Richard.
Do you have any idea how much it would cost to get them changed over to 240 volt and I guess serviced at the same time, this pair is an early pair from 2014.

While we were at the recent forum visit…….the original prototypes/demo units were there for their first service, after about 15 years. I guess, if you ask the cost, you might not be able to afford it……..500 series is steep. Other than field and dealer failures its probably not been quantified. Best of luck.
I’d email the factory.
Re voltage change (Service different), other than any carriage charge it shouldn’t cost any more than any other amp as it will simply be involve moving two wires (per transformer if more than one) - it would be surprising if Naim had used single not split primary transformers, requiring transformer change.
You’d need to brief either the factory or your local dealer to see what they can set up (vis RMA system).
One issue will be transportation/shipping in to and out of Naim, as this kit is often palleted, notwithstanding the flight cases.
See Steve’s comments (in link) on likely servicing.
FYI, asked and answered here:
Can an NAP S1 115v be switched to 230v? - Hi-Fi Corner - Naim Audio - Community
I know they can be changed, but due to age, and they have been on 24/7 all their life, I feel a service would be best, as you want to know 100% that they are 100% right. Or you might as well not bother and go buy something else.
It’s just that these could be quite cheap I feel, but the service cost needs to be know. As for shipping then, they have the flight cases still and I can sort out them being flown over as I have contacts.
Just to add it not the S1, it’s just the amp’s
FYI, the NAC S1s (pre) tend to be the less reliable of the units. The NAP S1s are pretty robust – albeit I recognise your thoughts, especially around (say) matching etc,.
Obviously, be mindful of documentation issues (and taxes!) if crossing borders.
From the forum visit when asked about a potential new Statement, Steve said he was still OK with the preamp, but had some new ideas for the power amps. If i had the money, i would get the preamp, just my ears on listening, many, many times. My dealer has sold many preamps, not sure if the power amps got sold.
Anyway a nice decision to make.
He only has the amp’s and never had the S1.
Looks like he is or has sold all his gear, as he had some very nice kit. I think he used them on his subs as he had some even nicer amp’s for the main 2 channel.
A John McEnroesque “you cannot be serious” springs to mind at the thought of you returning to Naim amplification.
Perhaps you never said never again.
I’ll be interested in your experience if it is feasible to buy and service them.

It’s only really a thought at the moment, and a slight one at that, as i am not looking at changing any thing in my system really, plus he would rather sell them more locally. But me being the guy I am, spotted a maybe bargin, as not sure if the statement amp’s in the USA are sort after much, especially these days?
Anyway in talks, just about as the time difference is a pain, 8 hours. Been going on now for about 2 months, on and off, but got a bit more serious in the last 12 hours. So really for me to go any more forward with this, I really need to know a rough cost. I just thought someone might have a clue, but will try and find out tomorrow from a dealer, if they know?
I would buy Statement amps from UK and get Naim or dealer to transport and install. I know a little about this. Sending from outside of UK too many variables. It needs to be set up by dealer or Naim. Alot can go wrong Dunc. Steer clear of dodgy deals!
Hi Dan, I don’t think for a second i would use them, as 100% happy with what i have. I would be looking at moving them on.
All depends on price as right now i think they could be cheap, as long as naim don’t want say £5000 plus to look at them, but they might. I could get them shipped over very cheaply, basically nothing as I have contacts. Obviously taxes to pay, wink, wink, but as said it’s only an idea that’s been boiling for the last few weeks, and I might know someone that would like them to go with his S1.
But lots to sort to make it happen and be worth the hassle, but things like this are right up my street.
Wheeler Dealer HiFi Dealer Dunc. Good luck bud and happy new year!
You know what i am like ![]()
Back to Naim then?
you mean 230v, 240 doesn’t exist anymore

Probably best to ask Naim directly here or via a dealer who can arrange it for you (all service work has to go through a dealer).
