I see that bose have acquired Stream Unlimited.
No High’s, bad lows, it must be Bose!
What would this mean for other hifi companies using it?
Firmware Gate is going to look like a stroll in the park….
I very much doubt it will mean anything at all. If so, perhaps the licensing fees for the tech or a requirement to include the logo in packaging. Trivial stuff.

I’m sure they will have a lot of internal issues. I doubt they’ll be overly visible to end users of products that already have their solutions built in with upstream contracts already in place by the OEM.
Changes to service level and offering of new license agreements may make OEMs reconsider whether to deploy them in future products but that’s also not likely to have visible impact from an end user perspective. Enshittification of things going forward is always a concern. Of stuff already in the field under contract the risk is probably less so.

Seeing that SU’s core business is to offer OEM integrations for streaming products, I’m not super worried.
Though, if it were me, I would LOVE to see a collaboration between Lumin Music & Naim. Lumin’s obsessive quest for sound quality and technical excellence matches Naim’s (as an owner of both).

my feeling is in the context of small boards like this, the reality is they all work and will all do exactly the same thing. The dac is where it is at. And of course rock solid software for the streamer end user
