Obviously, I cannot say…
Should it be placed in the rules somewhere. It would make it easier not to discuss ‘it’ then.
If the names were shown as pictures rather than text they wouldn’t be found by search engines either.
It is in the rules - as follows;
A couple of individuals and companies have, in the past, expressed a strong desire not to have either their names mentioned or products discussed on the Naim forum and we are happy to oblige (including here). Any mention of their names or the names of their products will be moderated accordingly.
I use a HI-FI Sound Stereo Test Record the tracking tests are at various amplitudes. By using this and referencing to the MC t/w range preferably you are looking for an outcome Very Close to centre of the range where the generator sits in the optimin position in the magnetic field and at the same time using the lowest weight for the desired Test Tracking result. I no longer do any listening tests at all as a 10th of a gram either side of this all ways confirms i have the best sonic T/W.
I’m aware of two of them (I think) but moderation had to occur for me to know who.
Yes I read that…
perhaps you could let me know privately please?
Thanks
Yes that Rega looked very good, but when I have a very light, consistently perfect and correct height gauge, I’ve never felt the need to change. Sometimes cheap works, but only sometimes.
This theory that the best tracking force is set by ear is all very well, but when there seems to be infinite variables with an Aro, it’s good to have a set figure you know worked at one point. You may be setting the force by ear and be happy with it, only to find it was only best whilst other setting weren’t. Setting up an Aro can take hours and hours (well it does me) and the more measurements I can rule out, during the setting up, the better. At the very end of all the different Aro adjustments, I go back and tweak the tracking force by ear and note the force for future.
Lo, I agree! Had mine since the 90’s and still learning how to make it sound the best it can be! Mark Dunn’s advice/setup is a great place to start.
I don’t doubt that if someone said that theirs moved with an MC, it moved. I just added the info hat mine does not with my MM, which is what I care about as I don’t have an MC. Plus, the plate where the stylus lands is plastic in my case (dunno about below)
This is so weird adn intriguing that a company believes in the 2000s that they can tell others what they may or may not talk about, on a forum that they do not own. Totally understand that Naim did not want to get into an argument, but I would love to know who it was so that I can avoid purchasing anything from them
I too am intrigued. I guess one way to find out would be to create a post listing every hifi company you can think of (particularly cable manufacturers?). Then Richard would have to bring a bit of moderation to bear and the difference between what you posted and what remained would be the answer. Of course, I’m sure Richard would see through this cunning plan and delete the entire post!
It’s a weird rule as I’m sure that discussion on here might increase their turnover. Unless the products were known to be lousy, of course.
Could be a new thread: “What Hifi Products Are Never Discussed Or Mentioned Here?”
I jest. I don’t really care…
