A slightly odd one this. Colour is washed out but this was taken from the stern of a Rib on the Juan de Fuca Strait back in 1995. There was almost no light left. We had just bounced over the wake of a tanker heading back to the Pacific naval base at Esquimalt BC when I looked around and the salmon trolling fleet was following us back towards Victoria at the end of the salmon season.
Almost Turneresque. Nice pic.
If I can add a few more sunsets I had this one from the Zambezi above Vic Falls
And the next one showed how quickly the sun set at that latitude. I couldn’t believe it. Bang. Gone. Dark. Midges…
I took this strawberry sunset photo from our patio not realizing that the reason for the redness was, among other things, the fires in Canada which are making themselves noticeable here in southern Germany!
I’m making the most of the warm weather here in the Chilterns. This is the time of year when sitting outside at gone 10pm it remains pleasantly warm and the plants in the garden give off wonderful aromas. It’s quieting down, other than sheep bleating across the valley and the occasional distant sounds that travel. The owls and the deer will start up soon. In the meantime here is a mix of sunset and sunset adjacent images.
Nearing the completion of my lap of Lough Neagh yesterday on the Summer Solstice, this was taken as the sun dipped towards the Lough’s horizon.

…of a burnt out day when morning seems a thousand hours away.
Sun setting over Stansted Airport - having to stop over tonight ahead of trip to Dolomites tomorrow morning.
