Superlumina speaker cable

… Just heard the Bad album by Michael Jackson on my Chord Qutest/202/200DR with Superlumina speaker cable.

Never quite heard it like this before but simply - wow…. this album came out when I was a teenager but finally I think I can hear what Michael Jackson had recorded…. (in terms of sheer musicality/passion into the recording).. Magical.

I think the Superlumina speaker cable is showing what Naim also intended.

Even though this was a used cable from eBay, it still needed some time to come on song. Sounded bright initially, but seems to have settled down after many hours of usage

Also, the equivalent Vertere Pulse X speaker cable seems to be made differently… So despite all the rumours, I think in my view that Naim did design this speaker cable. They look different also.

However I do like very much the Vertere speaker cables ! I have quite a few Vertere interconnects and for me these are essential. I won’t listen to music without my vertere cables.

Anyway was it worth adding this to a 202/200DR? Yes absolutely for me. I chose this over a Hicap upgrade.

I really did enjoy my 15 years with Naca5, but for me this is a upgrade over the A5 cable.

it is a bit of a loss that the Classic range 202/200 all the way to 252/300DR isn’t available anymore, with the Hicaps and Supercaps….

I still need to hear the Old classic and compare that side by side to the new classic range…

Nice review. I really enjoy the SL speaker cable in my system too. I find it very organic - detailed but with a very expansive soundstage (width and depth) and dynamic range.

I also recently acquired pre-loved SuperLumina speaker cables, only on Monday, and like you I found they took the best part of 24 hours to settle in; going from “OK” to “meh” to “Wow”.

This with my NC250, a recent addition itself, and the SL speaker cables are like a black box upgrade.

Another fan of Superlumina one of my best upgrades.

I remember when we added SL speaker cables to our 272/250DR. We’ve had them for so long you tend to forget these sort of tweaks.

They really opened up the top end, but not in a splashy way. Perfect complement to our slightly dark sounding nDAC.

Whilst expensive, they were worth every penny in our view. Significant discount on new, bought used.

The SL jumpers are like hen’s teeth used, so we went for Vertere jumpers.

At some point we will get SL interconnnects again.
