Thank you very much for the various tips and encouragement. I will try everything on the Cisco 3560 as soon as the console cable arrives.
Donāt forget to update your resume once youāve completed setting up your Cisco network. Hourly rate should go up!
Iām going to add a nice c9105axw next week to improve coverage in the attic.
Moved
It took me a while to find the time to do it. Today, I was able to reset the Cisco 3560 to its factory settings. Now everything is working perfectly.
The access point (Swisscom Wi-Fi box) upstairs could now also be paired with the router (Swisscombox 4) via the Cisco. Now I have 760 Mbps upload and 640 Mbps download for Wi-Fi throughout the house. The entire home network now runs via the Cisco (hi-fi system via Ethernet). I am happy and satisfied. Thank you again for your support.

Good stuff
Hi @Simon-in-Suffolk
Please could you explain (in simple English
) how to go about this? Can it be done using a Mac?
Probably not in simple English, these are specific technical configurations on the switch. No I am not aware of any software on a Mac that can perform as an IGMP querier.
There is some detail here, but not for the faint hearted
Thank you. Iāll let you know if I get anywhere
For information, on a 2960 in default mode, IGMP snooping is enabled, so it does it out of the box, so you donāt need to do anything.
For most home uses and particularly for hifi I canāt see why you would ever need MVR.
IGMP querier is something quite different. This is functionality that refreshes all the clients in the multicast group address, so they remain registered, and donāt need to be re discovered and re added into the group address, thereby increasing performance and helping some software functionality. For example this can help the Naim app function quicker for local upnp streaming.
Certain ISP broadband routers, especially if the ISP offers IPTV like BT have this functionality already inbuilt.
@Simon-in-Suffolk
My router does have IPTV.
Would changing any of these (default) settings help speed up the Naim App?
Which ISP provides your router. If its a BT one I know it supports a querier - but that doesnāt look like a BT screen. If itās a third party one then without looking on the network or specific management information on the connected 2960 there is no way to confirm for sure whether it acting as an IGMP querier, but it would/should say in its instructions. Specifically you should look at its instructions anyway. An ISP provided router supporting IPTV will likely be plug and play.
There is an option for IGMP snooping - so you should enable that if you connect your streamer directly to a switch port on the router. The proxy setting is only relevant of you are consuming multicast group data from the internet - such as IPTV from your ISP.
The IGMP version I suggest leave to the latest version/highest number unless issues. Naim software supports all current IGMP versions I seem to remember.
Thanks Simon.
All my audio is connected to a Cisco 2960 fed from the router. The only devices connected directly to the router are my iMac and an Apple Time Capsule
