I use Uptone ER switch using blue jeans cat 6 cable to my ND555.
The streamer connects to 552 via Superlumina din-din.
Rest of system u can see listed
I use the standard smps that came with ER switch
I’ve reviewed much of listed posts about switches, power supply for switches, cables to connect switch to streamer, etc.
My system sounds great and I don’t feel need to change anything but…
Thought about upgrading PS for ER…. Seems very unclear from what I read whether upgrading PS is worthwhile or whether I should replace my BJ cable between ER and ND555.
Would be interested in opinions from those that know my ER switch
I really don’t see spending more than $1000 US
Thanks
David
Hi David.
I had the same set, as per switch and blue jean cable, and still find them so be outstanding. I think the ethernet cable is a very unique choice and totally depends on the system sound and the fine tuning of the sound for the listeners ears.
A friend of mine wasn’t too keen on the BJ cable but changed speakers to Dynaudio and now loves the fuller sound of the bj.
A good power supply is a good upgrade for the ER, I was using 2xER powered by Sean Jacobs DC4 with mutec se120 clock, a pretty over the top switch but the best I had heard to that point.
I have just upgraded to a single LHY AS8 still using the Mutec clock and have to say it is incredible, a bigger sound stage tighter and fuller musical sound. I have tried most switches available over the last 12 years and think I was one of the first people on the site to start fiddling in this area. This is the best I have tried, the build quality is that of a 10k box too. It’s cheap compared to others because no importer, you buy direct, and it’s built in China. Good standard linear power supplies inside too.
Take a look.
Cheers
This would be the best £1100 you could spend the this part of your system in my opinion.
Have you heard the Network Acoustic Tempus? Just curious
Switches and power supplies are always such a tricky subject. I don’t run an ER but I do have the EE8 with BJC from router to my first switch (Cisco) then I run a length of Neat 1008 to the EE8 and Shunyata Sigma to the ND555. I’ve tried over a dozen linear power supplies on the EE8 but to be honest the standard SMPS is as good as any of them. I have an old cheap (but small) linear power supply that’s the only one I’ve found that’s better. What I will say is that this current combination has pushed my system into new musical territory. Easily better than any box upgrade I’ve made.
Yes, to a cable upgrade from the ‘B’ port of the EtherREGEN to Naim network player.
I run a Chord Sarum Tuned Array streaming cable. Before that it was a Chord Anthem cable, now used to my UltraRendu, running the SonoreUPnP Bridge. Other cables are a AudioQuest Vodka to my RPi2 running Asset UPnP server, and an AQ Cinnamon to a AppleTV (Gen3). Feed to the EtherREGEN is Audioquest Vodka from an EE1, and Audioquest Cinnamon to the EE1.
I also use a Farad3 power supply with L2 Silver connector to the EtherREGEN.
There is also an AfterDark OCXO 10MHz clock, at ‘King’ level, with matching power supply, feeding the EtherREGEN. This makes a big different.
The EtherREGEN design is unique, with Moat etc, just upgrade cables, power supply and add a Clock!
Thanks all

I have been on a journey with streaming and different switches and supplies. The more you experiment the better as I have found the choice of SMPS, Linear depends and often you end up with a combination. Using switches in series can be effective and cheap and I have yet to find a better cable than the well regarded Sommer CAT 8.1 with suitable connectors. Annoyingly things that shouldn’t make a difference seem to. Clocking and power supplied make a difference. All of this should be really subtle given for the majority of the journey its Asynchronous and following Internet protocols BUT for some reason, (guessing it can only be because of noise on the cable line that enters the path when it starts to stream) it doesn’t seem to be.
My cheap likes are Sommer cable, medical grade and high amp SMPS, Studer 900 based R-Core LPS. looking at case GND and sheilding
I have the same experience. Upgrading to LHY AS8 Pro made a very significant improvement in sound stage, clarity and reduced harshness over anything I had previously (other LHY switches, clocks, netgear etc)
Another very good experience i had is with a Buffalo GS2016 managed switch. It is the same that can be found in the melco switch. Needs to be ordered from Japan but costs only 200£. There are guides on the Internet how to exchange its inbuilt smps with an LPS and adjust setting for audiophile listening. Was quite straight forward for me
I now have the Buffalo next to my Roon Core and connected it to the LHY AS8 Pro via fibre optic. Works terrific. I could imagine that a single Buffalo or two in a row for optic isolation would also work well and this would be quite good value.
