System Pics 2019

Hi Alan, it’s actually just some craft foam that I cut into squares, they don’t have any use in my system they just happened to end up on the Quadraspire shelf when I was moving things around.

They also come in handy to cover the Zenith SE logo if I don’t want someone to know what it is

I do however have 3 round (Ikea) bamboo jar pot lids under the feet on the SE as the Quadraspire shelf has channels cut out in the shelf and the SE has rubber O rings on the bottom of the feet.

I thought if it was on the Quadraspire rack for a prolonged period then it would eventually leave some permanent grooves in the rubber O rings.

The Quadraspire shelf is also Bamboo so it’s a good material match.

Ah ok , i tried to enlarge the photo to check but couldn’t, so thought I’d ask .Never mind, just thought I’d spotted another user :grinning: , and I had never seen them mentioned on the forum before.Nice set up by the way.

They do look very similar so it’s very understandable you thought they might be (Sound Dead Steel Isofeet). I will certainly look into trying to find some more info or a review on them.

Finally got a good head on pic of my 282 in its bright pink glory. The NDX and XPSdr are pretty bad too.

For contrast, the SCdr of the same age looks normal in the same light. I’m hoping I can get the fascias replaced during the 2024 planned recap.

This is anodizing quality control at its finest.

Very edgy, almost zen-like.

Time for a return to Naim for new front panels methinks - unless you like pink of course😎
Naim sorted my 252 perfectly.
When Jason came to install my Focal Sopra 2s a couple of years back he mentioned that it was due to contamination at their suppliers from a fire which had caused contamination in the plant.

Sadly I live 6000 miles away in a country without Naim. It’ll have to wait till recapping. It’s crazy money to ship stuff and pay for customs each way.

Ah, that’s a shame. Well, perhaps one day!

Not sure what the individual situation is here.

But when I need to ship one of my guitars off for service (from Poland to the US) I get a special customs carnet, proving I’ve already paid all the import and customs charges when it first arrived. That way when it is shipped back to the EU, it’s exempt from further charges.

Would a similar situation be applicable for your @feeling_zen?

For VAT yes since VAT is a one off charge. But customs no. Customs are a charge for goods crossing a border each time they cross a boarder. So once UK goods are over 2 years old (varies on type) they cannot be shipped back to the UK without incurring customs duty… which happens to be about the same as VAT.

In the case of my 250 DR upgrade, I got whacked for VAT again too because the document envenlope which was very firmly affixed to the box went mysteriously mussing along with all 40 sheets of forms in it. The fiasco is well documented in the old forum. I have the worlds most expensive NAP250dr at a total of GBP 7k!

When recapping time comes, I may choose a different country than the UK. In the meantime I’ll enjoy my system. If the customs quote and shipping for recapping is too high, I may move to a Japanese brand to make life easier.

I was referring to an ATA carnet.

Thanks @Adam.Zielinski, I’ll give this a try for sure. I did it myself last time and spent great care preparing documents for the UK and return to Japan. But as I said, a bigger issue last time was someone disposing of the document envenlope before the consignment arrived in the UK. I’ve had very hit and miss luck. When I ordered 6 boxes of Naim and 3k speakers, the whole lot was shipped by my dealer on an aircraft pallet. I paid no vat in the UK and Japanese customs (who pull numbers out of a hat) charged me just 50 quid! I’ve later had them charge more customs than the value of the pro forma invoice.

I’ll do a trial run with that service when I get my UQ2 recapped in 2023.

yup, v happy with it

A Dynalab, classy

Those speakers look really cool.

Thanks, they sound great too!

I don’t get why you have so many affected fascias, yet it doesn’t otherwise seem to be a very common issue. It seems like a statistical anomaly. Were they all purchased together, and thus came out of the same faulty batch, perhaps?

Well, after seeing so much amazing equipment and gorgeous listening spaces posted here I’m almost embarrassed to show mine - but I’m happy with what I have, so here goes

My Unity Atom with Sonus Faber Sonetto 2 speakers and Rel Stampede sub.

We have just moved to a new house so I have more room to work with. The rug to go under the salon tables is on backorder, should be delivered this week.

Here’s my humble system
Consisting of a double Atom (2nd is in the bedroom), nap 100 both feeding a pair of B&W PM1, a Uniti Core and a Synology DS215J. This can keep me dancing for hours :joy:
The Bedroom Atom drives a pair Dali Menuet.
The system also drove a pair of ls50 now long gone.
