System Pics 2019

:small_blue_diamond:Yorkshireman,…I like your room, the roof should contribute to better soundquality.

Positive that you have your LP12 on a separate rack, and not at the top of your Fraim.
Looks a little bad,.please tell us what you have under your speakers.

Hi Peder, I have a pair of Mana Sound Bases (size 1) under each SBL and then Linn skeets under each Mana spike and then a pair of 400x400x30mm RS acoustic granite plinths under the skeets.

The granite plinths are about 15kg each. I would really like to get two new plinths made that are about 60mm thick as the plinth should be of similar weight to each speaker, so at 60mm thick they should be around 30kg each which is similar to weight of each individual speaker which is around 35kg. Maybe 72mm thick may be best to give a weight of 35kg.

John Watson, the designer of the Mana equipment recommend to me to not having any granite support under the Sound Basis but as I’m on a fairly solid but modern suspended floor I find the granite plinths help to isolate any vibrations from the speakers traveling to other equipment like the turntable.

They should also add a bit more bass weight.

Not sure if my thinking on this is correct but that’s my reasoning.

A slightly better angle and a few more records.

:small_blue_diamond:Yorkshireman,…Then I saw right anyway,.it was a Mana :+1:t2:.

Interesting thoughts you tell.
I have never heard that the granite plate should be as heavy as the speaker,.have you listened to it somewhere.?

One thought,.we’ve always thought when we tested, that Naim’s Chips have been better than Skeet.
They are also designed so the spike can stand on the spike tip.
Try to borrow Naim Chips from your dealer, and test against your Skeet.

:small_orange_diamond:Ps: The last picture of the Mana and speaker was very good.

Hi Peder, I have Naim chips under my Fraim and Linn skeets under the SBL’s. I will maybe try some chips under the speakers one day.

I had read in a few different places that the optimum or best solution is to have a granite base as heavy or slightly heavier than the speaker although I have never tried it so I can’t make any personal recommendations.

I should think there is a point with very, very big or heavy speakers where this is not practical or possible.

Hi marksnaim, I could do with some kind of record storage solution, can you let me know what your white units are or where you got them?

They look like the IKEA Expedit or Kallax units

One of those, yes. I forget which. Great value.

Just checked. They are Kallax.

:small_blue_diamond:And Kallax is the name of a village near Luleå airport,…40 km from me.

It was here Ingvar Kamprad (Ikea) got the name for this shelf,…this was when they established a new furniture-store in Haparanda (130 km) from me.

This looks great! Is this your system?

Loving the Quadraspire X-ref. Always wondered how big the footprint looked next to Fraim.

Be interested in your opinion of it as a 4 point rack as opposed to Fraim’s 3.

Mainly listen to acoustic covers and 80’s at low volume, sounds good to my ears.

Looking at a couple of extensions to our house that will hopefully give me better locations to set up my system and get a dedicated rack.

Thank you. Yes, it’s my study system.

Hi @Yorkshireman, are they unused Sound Dead Steel Isofeet I spy on the shelf next to the Innuos?. How do you find them ,as i employ them under the feet of my cdp, amp and psu and have always been pleased by the isolation they appear to offer. An extremely cheap little tweak imho .
