Same designer. Let’s hope he’s not choking on his cornflakes right about now…
It always seemed a bit odd to me that the Core is styled as a Uniti, and like it’s predecessor, marketed as one too, yet it’s used as a server or SPDIF source throughout the Classic and 500 ranges.
Perhaps they have a classic server up their sleeves?
I hope likewise, Richard. But we all have to start somewhere… I remember clearly my own first big cockup, nicknamed by onlookers “Titanic” …it sank into oblivion (unlike its namesake which did tragically sink, but not into oblivion). Not that I’m suggesting the same fate awaits the new Uniti range, although I have deliberately not subscribed to the Statement fraternity, I don’t see a huge future for that particular product, I have to say
And what does Oscar’s owner have?
Wow! @roger I’m glad you got that off your chest. I actually care a lot about both aesthetics and sound quality. I’ve been through the Naim range in various configurations over the years but have always tried to avoid too many boxes. For a 3 box set up I quite like the look of it and of course it sounds great. But thanks for the feedback.
Bother. Archie has discovered the nd555 is a good vantage point! He never showed any sign of sitting on the nds
Current system picture!
We’re in the process of having the kitchen remodelled, which includes changing from gas to electric cooking and the installation of underfloor heating. I’m using the excuse of all the additional electrical demand to justify a separate supply (three radial spurs) into the music room. This is going to add to the chaos already going on in the kitchen, utility room, boot room and toilet because they’re going to have to cut into the ceiling to pass cables through all the joists. Consequently, the stereo has all been shifted into another room, but not plugged in as there’s already a ton of other stuff crammed in there from the other rooms. This, of course does present another opportunity: to have the NBL crossovers sent back to HQ for test and service (they’ve not been checked since new, so fearing a rogue capacitor I think it’s prudent). I hope to post a revised system picture once we’re up and running again, which, sadly, I don’t expect until October. It’s rather silent round these parts!
You may want to try repositioning Archie on the ND555. I’m sure lying down, sitting or standing will have an effect on SQ given the ‘sensitive’ nature of the ND555 to it’s immediate environment
Roger, I’m told that sales of both the Statement and the new Uniti range have exceeded expectations, so I think they may have already dodged that iceberg…
Yeah, right. Like that’s going to work I have no control at all over where he sits / lies / stands, never mind the precise shape while he is doing so. Fortunately he’s moved now since a fly went past…
Archie better not take a whiz😢
I can hear the conversation in A&E now. “How did you get those lacerations?” “I was repositioning my cat on my streamer to remove a shrill top end.”
I’ve currently moved my Core to my main system while I am trying a power block and it doesn’t really match. It will be going back downstairs to the media room/office.

Versus this:
Lots of people said there would never be a Unitiserve replacement, so who knows, perhaps we’ll see HDX2?
Well that’s great to hear, Richard. I was worried that by not buying into the new ranges, their profitability could be hit. But now I can sit back and listen to my classic and 500 music safe in the knowledge that Naim remains profitable and will be able to maintain support for their traditional ranges for years to come. Phew !
PS, what did happen to their musicassette project… any chance of revival do you think?
I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting for the Naim cassette deck any time soon, sad to say…
Archie has his standards obviously. Good to know that finally you have risen to them!
Best

I think this looks fine. I too have a Unity Core, formerly with classic equipment. Afterall this is about music and sound, not art we are looking at.
