Thanks HiFiman!
Nice to see you’ve made good use of the Allaes after deciding to keep them. Somebody missed out on a real bargain at the price you offered them at. Oh well, their loss, your gain!

I’m wondering if an S1 pre in front of your ATC’s might not sound rather good Roger
You could always hide the S1 in a (tall) cupboard if the looks don’t appeal…
Hey, you know what, KJ ?.. I hadn’t thought of that possibility. I must find out who makes decent tall cupboards that match tinted cherry Fraim (Tesco, Ikea, Argos ???).
Yea, me too. New kitchen going in…I rotated the speakers 90 degrees over (farthest away from the disaster area) and covered them. Nothing sounds right in the meantime.
I can’t wait to get everything back to where it’s are supposed to be
Interesting. The NDS is noticeably warmer, so I would have thought more attractive. When I moved things around and a Supercap was on top, my cat found it much less attractive.
No obvious SQ change with cat on/off.
Ah, but according to the ‘ND555 Impressions’ thread, which has largely become a discussion of Ethernet cable types, it does matter if it’s Cat 5, Cat 6 or even Cat 7!
I’ve now got the Iotas installed on their B-tech wall brackets. It makes a world of difference. Bass is cleaner and it’s just miles better.
Looks good HH,you can also experiment with the tweeter inside or outside. I preferred mine on the outside like you have them set up,wider soundstage.
One cat’s bad enough
Looks neat HH, and I’m sure it sounds great too.
I’m just surprised to see Madonna and Bruce Springsteen on your desk!
They are Hilary’s. Not really my cup of tea, but better at the gym than Trygve Seim.
When it gets to 9 it should be careful.
Pun intended?
I have no iota what you mean…
Sorry but where did you get that nice bookshelf - it looks great!
I can’t remember exactly where is came from, possibly oak store direct. You can choose the edges, corners, finish and fixings. It’s a floating version with three large screw fittings into the wall. As there are three it was really, really hard to get it fitted as the holes must be perfectly level. I’m not sure I’d trust it with a lot of weight but it does look nice and matches the desk well, which is what we aimed to achieve.
I went the gallows brackets route, off the stands with DIY blocks of wood.
They are not as nice looking as yours, but I am pleased with the sound. There is a much more controlled bass and the soundstage is rock solid and well defined, it sounds more three dimensional. Very enjoyable musically.
Although the sound is much better than on the Kan stands, there was something wrong I just couldn’t figure out. Then it hit me, there was a bit of a hole in the middle of the soundstage; I could hear the centre but it was distant and understated compared to the wider soundstage, which was solid and well defined.
I figured that the speakers were too far apart relative to the distance of my ears to the speakers, this is limited by the size of the window.
However, I have now resolved this completely by switching speaker sides so the tweeter is now on the inside, see pic below. The sound is much, much better and I would say the best I have ever heard it sounding, breathtaking for such a simple/low cost system.
Note that the cup on the desk has also changed, but I have done strict AB’s and it is not affecting the sound, other than perhaps a slight improvement in midrange clarity
