In that case I would put empty Fraim under 552, to give it more separation from the rest.

That would compromise the pre for sure. Best kept on the brawn side.

@Bart I had very positive results when I moved the 300 up a level. I had an empty level at the bottom on both sides. This allowed the Burndy to get off the floor. It was better than spacing the 552 out from either the 300 Head or the CDS3. I tried all 3 combos. If you can get some medium levels I also found that makes a big difference. Looks a bit gangly but the sound makes up for it!

@Bart you could also move the Rega PS to the bottom and move the 300PS up one more level also. Not sure what is on top of the PS stack but maybe that could go lover down also??

Here’s my brain :brain:

Pre up one shelf worth a try, as is Burndys clear of the floor and hanging free rather than propped up which may mean everything else moves too. What does the top right box do?

:small_blue_diamond:Here we have the biggest problem with this forum.
That there is no “Sticky” thread with Music-system installation advice.

:black_small_square:Darke Bear,.has on the old forum written excellent advice in a thread on how to install Fraim, and place devices in a Fraim rack.

These questions come back all the time,.and there is no sensible person who can cope and repeat the same advice all the time.
I myself have written and given the same advice on music-system installation lots of times,.but I have stopped doing it.
It will be too hard to write the same thing again, and again, and again, and again.

And the losers are then members,.new members, who get less knowledge from the forum.

It is incomprehensible to me,.and a very large lack of this forum.

/Peder🙂

I fully agree that a dedicated thread would be very helpfull and would avoid to have same questions answered sometimes differently on different topics.

On my side I wonder if it is more important to have some air around boxes (for example pre on top) or cables off the floor (even protected with pipe insulation foam).

I am sure that you will recommend to all to get their own Archie given the positive impact it has on your system. And I am sure DB will be able to also give some background A/B testing to confirm your impressions…

Top right box is the power distro block. For cable dressing I do like it there vs. on the floor.

Hooooboy…you’re gonna love what’s coming!
When I got my Keel/L4/Krystal home I almost fell over at how it sounded. Mind, I suspect my pre-upgrade Linn was in dire need. My Asaka was so old it needed a stick…

The Krystal is an excellent cartridge. I loved mine. Enjoy you two!

Yup, I’m sure you’re going to enjoy those improvements. It’ll be like a whole new record collection. But I’m sure the Kandid won’t play Bobby Gentry albums…
