System Pics 2019

Good day! Changes in the system of: nac 122x changed the nac 202. the nap 150x replaced the nap 250. FlatCap XS was replaced by HiCap DR and NAPSC. Now the HeadLine can’t make it work! I connect to outputs 202, on HeadLine I do full volume-hardly it is audible. What am I doing wrong?

Take a photo of the back so we can see the connections, someone will help if possible.

connected to the Tape output as recommended.

Hi Fred,

Thanks for feedback

I have CDX2, a Magnum Dynalab and a Clearaudio Emotion as well . The problem is that I have a smallish , thin sitting room so all the audio and TV equipment are at one end which they share with conservatory doors, any speakers have to have a small footprint.

In addition I have had major bowel surgery in the past so lifting mega speakers is not an issue. Just giving this some thought

Those Neat Alphas look great by the way

Many thanks

Ian

Best argument for Iota Alpha I have ever seen.

Is it a DIN headline? Are you connected into one of the Tape IN/OUTs (3,4 or 5)? IS the Record Mute engaged? If so, disengage it. For details see here:

13.2 record mute

In order to minimise power consumption and improve sound quality the NAC 202 record output circuit can
be muted. To engage or disengage record mute press the front panel mon button followed by the front panel mute button. The mute button indicator will illuminate when record mute is engaged and extinguish when it is disengaged. Record mute can also be engaged and disengaged from the remote handset using the mon and mute keys.

After you have finished listening to headphones, you can then re-engage the record mute for best performance when listening normally through speakers.

These might be the ones!

Yes. connected to 3 DIN. Tried to press mon and mute. The mute button is lit. Need to go out?
Let us try

Yes, light needs to be out after pressing Mon then Mute.

I also see ND5xs2 and xs2 at the top?

They do indeed

Many thanks

Hopefully your Headline is now working fine.

A tip; try re-arranging the rack a bit. Place the NAC202 at the top. Put the NAPSC well away from the rest, on the floor behind the rack is probably fine. That should put some space between the Hicap and Headline, or even have the Headline up on the NAC202 (After all, the Headline is just a smaller pre-amp).

Yes! the same! Next step replace ND5XS2 with NDX2

@Pete_the_painter I bought some SX7i’s earlier in the year. I had a short list of 3 speakers and these won for me. I am really enjoying them now, hope you get as much out of them as I do !

Those SX7s are very nice looking speakers. It will be interesting to read what you think of them. I’d certainly look into getting a better rack; you’ll be surprised by the improvement it can make. Your 272 etc deserves it.

Alex, what’s powering the headline now? I assume it was the flatcap previously.

And I love your headphone stand head! Where’s that from?
