Over dinner tonight I passed on your suggestion, don’t take any calls from strangers over the next few days
That’s so lovely!
Thanks, let me know what you think…
You are steepening the slippery slope, and costing me!!!
This is a very cheap upgrade compared to what some people spend on their hi fi. Really 50.00 is a great value for money SQ upgrade.
Yes, I understand this is not expensive. Apart form the Nain service, I have not spent much over the years as I have kept my system much as it was when I made the initial purchases in the 80’s and 90’s, and why the last item of expenditure was the service.
Have you considered a linear power supply (rather than a switch mode, I am assuming the iFi iPower is a switch mode with some extra filtering, their website is not clear as far as I can see) for the Musical Fidelity DAC?
More pictures please
These are the pictures from the eBay listing of the Nad c372 I recently bought. As soon as I have it all set up properly at home I’ll take some other pictures.
I had one of these about 15 years ago and had really good memories of it so when I was looking for a new ‘affordable’ amp and saw this I had to try it. I got it for £162 + p&p,
It’s immaculate, boxed and in the much, much nicer black.
Initial listening albeit with Tidal via Google Chrome Audio straight into the amp and with my Dynaudios is very pleasing. No it isn’t a Supernait 3 but it has it’s own sound which I enjoy and the Dyns are really loving all that power.
I have also bought a Musical Fidelity V LPS stage and a modded Technics 1200 with an Audio Origami Rega RB300 which is coming hopefully at the weekend.
Apart from the mods it’s the same turntable and amp I used to own and love and if it brings me even some of the pleasure my original did I’ll be very happy.
You could try to get the matching NAD C162 pre-amp to go with it. Together more than the sum of its parts.
It’s the combo (with Logitech Squeezebox and NAD C542) I had before I downsized to a Uniti Star.
I too have fond memories of the Nad before I stumbled upon Naim at the Sound Organisation in the early 1980’s.
Love this story Bob.
It is heartwarming to see how well looked after that NAD is. Immaculate case, the remote in a plastic sleeve, the cables carefully tied, and all for £162. Restores your faith….
I hope you post again when the entire system is brought together.
Thanks Nigel,
I suppose the point is that at a dollar short of $1,000 when it was released about fifteen years ago the Nad c372 was to most of the population a very expensive amp. The £450 I paid for the used model that I bought back then was a lot of money to me too, so it’s not surprising someone took such great care of it.
As soon as I get a rack for the new gear and set it up I’ll post some pictures.
In a transition between ND5 XS and NDS, waiting for 555PS to arrive! The CDS2 and XPS are now making their way to Switzerland to their new owner!
Here is a photograph of my new record player that will hopefully be delivered over the weekend. I will post some better pictures once it’s all set up. It’s a modified Technics SL1200 Mk2. As you can see the pitch control has been removed and the plinth refinished, It also has an Ian Mac bearing upgrade and an offboard PSU.
The Rega RB300 has had the full Audio Origami treatment, internal and external rewire, upgraded stub and counterweight and then the whole thing has been chrome plated and polished.
I have an Audio Technica AT150 EA MM cart that was such a good match with the Origin Live modified Rega RB250 that I had my last LP12.
Can’t wait to delve into my record collection again in the coming weeks
You bad boy
The interesting thing for me about Dan_M’s fine system is that it combine Chrome Bumper, Olive and Black units.
Looks great Bob. Very interested to hear your thoughts over time re the Technics sound vs your old LP12. I’ve heard and appreciated the advantages a good direct drive TT offers, but it’s a big change in presentation from Sondek. Love to hear what you think of the new baby as it beds in.
Kevin
Hey Andrea
Can I ask where did you get that vinyl storage unit from?
Hi, … That is 12 mm glass, I had it built by the glassworks artisan. I can put another one on top too … Do you like it?
what is the Zenflipper? difficult to read. A cd ripper?
