System Pics 2019

Very classy indeed Andrea

What tonearm has been fitted?

It’s a Zoneripper. Rips CDs and stores them to 2 TB hard drive.

A Rega RB300 with modifications by Audio Origami.

Hi Kevin. Yes I’m looking forward to it very much I had an un modded 1200 Mk2 years ago and have very good memories of it.

I stand corrected it’s 4TB. Considered Core but it is much more expensive for the same thing.

Got a good price on the zoneripper.

Like the full size aluminium case as well! Very pleased with purchase!

Thank you. It’s constantly evolving with changes of source and power supplies. 82 Preamp and 135s have remained for a while now.

Hopefully once NDS has 555PS in about a week, will be able to leave it alone for a while!

Nice to see another Techy lover here. I think we are very much in the minority.
MCRU 2 box PSU. Mike New bearing. SME M2-9 arm. Isonoe feet. KAB strobe disable mod.

Very nice raym55. All the mod’s on my deck where done by the previous owner, I’m a complete novice to all that though I owned a standard version quite a few years back. I’m just really looking forward to playing some of my records on it.

I do like the look of the pitch slider and queueing light removal. Something I may look at in future.
What I really need to do is sort out a decent cart. There’s a Goldring 2100 on there at the moment and although I am quite happy with it, I’m sure an upgrade is deserved.
Until then, I’ll just keep it spinnin’.

One of the nice things about autumn is having the fire on. The central heating can wait.

I did exactly the same thing earlier today.cleaned our gas fireplace and turned it on. Not cold enough for heat yet but fireplace was just right.

Thanks! After a few days away in the caravan it’s nice to be home, and even better to be cosy and to listen to music.

I have an AT 150 EA MM a Japanese only version of the 150MLX to use which I used on my last deck an LP12 with Origin Live Rega RB250.
After a few years of using only MC carts I had an accident with a Dynavector 20x2L which completely recked the coils and rendered it useless so it put me off expensive MC carts for a bit. I was a bit worried that going back to an MM cart would be a downgrade but the AT 150 is excellent and it’s stylus can be replaced with many AT stylus ranging from £30 or £40 up to £3 or £400.
Unfortunately though deck not arriving until Tuesday now but the seller has been kind enough to deliver so I’ll have to be patient.

I had a Rega 330 (standard, no mods) on the Techy but didn’t like it. I found setting VTA with the shims was a pain and Azimuth near on impossible. It just didn’t gel for me soundwise either. Maybe because it wasn’t adjusted properly.
The SME is a breeze to set.

I’m not sure about the deck I’m buying but on my LP12 I had an Origin Live VTA adjuster which allows you to alter the VTA without shims and without removing the arm you just tighten or loosen a washer sized nut.
The jury is definetly out on a Rega arm on both Techy and LP12 but I really enjoyed the Rega on my old LP12.
I needed the money elsewhere so sold all of my hifi earlier in the year and I’m now really determined to buy a system that just plays all of my music. I don’t want to spend lots of money on a system and then find out only certain types of music on only the very best/expensive pressings sound excellent and other types on ordinary pressings sound bland. Much of my favourite music fell into the second category and so much of my record collection just sat on the shelf.
The whole hifi thing started to really get in the way I’d buy new music and would be listening to how my system played it rather than the music itself. So I’m going right back to where I started and to the place where I last used to just stick a record on (any record) and listen to it. A Nad c372 and a Technics SL1200.
One major upside is I discovered a real love of late 50’s and early 60’s Jazz that I didn’t have before and own some beautifully pressed records.

I was listening to Tidal earlier streamed from my iPhone SE via Google Chrome Audio into the Nad c372 and I have to say I’m very happy the Dyn’s are really responding to all that power, can’t wait to get that Technics deck hooked up.

Gear in the new rack, just sorting cables.
