Looks really good. Do you find the Ikea butchers’ blocks on the top 2 shelves make a difference.
Where’s the Danish pastries?
Sounds about right and a good way to weigh upgrades up.
I really think Clearaudio make some seriously good products , I think your Clearaudio Performance looks the business. I suspect it sounds as good as it looks
Yes, thank you. It’s an excellent sounding turntable.
BTW: it’s not the Clearaudio Performance. It’s their Ovation with an Universal arm.
That is an incredibly serious turntable As a recent purchaser of a Clearaudio turntable I would rather have one of their models than a Linn or Rega.
I think I may have to go into hiding for the last remark.
LOL…No harm, no foul. I’m glad you enjoy seeing it.
Looks nice, I bet it’s heavy
Yes, there is quite a bit of heft there.
The SolidSteel wall shelf is 28 lbs. It is bolted to a plaster-on-brick outer wall. The maple platform is an isoAcoustics Delos (so it has isolation feet imbedded in the bottom). I don’t know the weight but it’s roughly 25 lbs. The turntable with arm, spindle weight and outer ring is about 37 lbs. Altogether about 90 lbs hanging on the wall.
Sorry about picture quality from my iPhone I’m afraid. I’m just listening to Art Pepper meets the Rhythm Section at the moment and it sounds really very good. Drums especially are really life like.
Looks good Bob. You are braver than me! I would miss my Linn/Naim stuff too much. Enjoy.
all look excellent, nice deco and room. Apart the rack…
It’s not as much of a leap as you would think. I still have some truly excellent speakers in the Dynaudio Contour s3.4’s and the Nad c372 was a very well regarded amp when it was released and would have cost you as much as a Nait 5.
My Technics is equal sonically to any LP12 I’ve owned except perhaps the pre Cirkus one with the Fidelity Research arm but that was as much down to the arm as anything else.
I’m really very happy with the whole set up.
I’ve just bought some Audioquest RCA Jumpers to replace the metal pins that go between the pre and power section of the Nad and also an IsoKinetic Silver 8 mains cable with an RF filter to replace the stock one on my phono stage and DAC PSU which is a switch mode.
I’ve also ordered some homebrew RCA Phono cables made from Klotz MC5000 and MS Audio plugs to replace the pretty awful Cambridge Audio ones that connect my DAC to the amp and if I like them I’ll replace the Chord Crimson that connect the Phono stage.
So apart from a new mat and some cosmetic touching up I’m pretty much there.
Thanks fr that’s kind. Though I’m actually quite taken with my rack it weighs an absolute ton and has really lifted the sonics of the record player. It was only supposed to be temporary but it has been given the thuumbs up from my better half who detested the Hutter.
Thanks fr for the tip but the A&E trolley is staying it’s solidity is just perfect for the very, very heavy Nad and the tank like Technics.
I’ve owned Quadraspire in the past infact one exactly like that sold on that famous auction site for just over £60 the same evening I aquired the ‘Trolley’ and I’m quite sure I got the right rack for my system.
Listening to Chet Baker and Duke Jordan at the moment and I’m enjoying it immensely.
I may even keep the wheels they’re actually growing on me.
Well Bobthebuilder, I think the A&E trolley looks the nuts, like it was made for that room. If it works sonically it’s definitely a keeper!
At the end of the day, as long as you are happy and can connect with the music that’s all that matters.
The NAD amp looks really good as does the turntable. Like the vinyl collection.
Best wishes
Chapeau Bob. The “rack” has quite a following…
