Talking of regs, my youngest, a sparky with 10 years experience, knows of at least half a dozen electrical fire insurance claims which were totally rejected by the insurance companies. Reason? You guessed it, failure to adhere 100% to regs. Unlikely? That’s what those claimants thought, no doubt! He is often asked to do little private jobs which involve turning a blind eye to the regs - he knows what happened to the electricians involved in above mentioned cases. ‘Nuff said.
That’s just so bad …
Blimey!
That’s crazy, just 4 mains plugs.
Yes, must borrow the label printer from work to try and make sense of my loom!
Cheer up, Brian. You know what they say.
Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad.
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you’re chewing on life’s gristle,
Don’t grumble, give a whistle!
And this’ll help things turn out for the best
And
Always look on the bright side of life!
Always look on the bright side of life
If life seems jolly rotten,
There’s something you’ve forgotten!
And that’s to laugh and smile and dance and sing,
When you’re feeling in the dumps,
Don’t be silly chumps,
Just purse your lips and whistle – that’s the thing!
And always look on the bright side of life
Come on!
Always look on the bright side of life
For life is quite absurd,
And death’s the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow!
Forget…
ATB Peter
Good too 'see’you back Peter!!
enjoy/ken
I have just sung that all the way through in my head and it’s really cheered me up!
Did you ask your electrician whether he could connect the wire directly into the box without the IEC connection? The IEC is the weak point here.
Good point, no I didn’t actually- he probably couldn’t have done it with 2 broken arms anyway ATB Peter
Might be worth asking. I have my T&E going straight into my distributor box. It does seem a shame with that level of equipment and all those Powerlines (with their floating pins doing their best to improve poor IEC contact points).

I can second the very positive opinions of the Townshend Podiums under my Apogee Scintillas One Ohm. One of my better upgrades.
I am jealous…well done !
Oh yummy yummy yummy. We’ve fancied Scintillas since the Heathrow show, sometime around ‘84-85. Bit hazy with the passage of time, but it was the Absolute Sounds room: can’t remember the TT, Audio Research pre, Krell amp and Andreas Vollenweider’s sublime harp (his first album) on one of those “12 ounces of plastic with a hole in the middle”.
Hello suzywong
It was probably Absolute Sound–they were our Distributors in the UK.
I have the legendary Krell KSA-80B amp which was basically designed to drive these speakers. Its all driven by a modern front end. I don’t do vinyl anymore, but I will do a TIDAL search and look for this one.
The album was actually his second (I’d forgotten “Eine Arte Suite”), but is considered his “breakthrough” album:
Behind the Gardens - Behind the Wall - Under the Tree
The track played was the title track. Seven minutes of sheer magic on an “old school” analogue system… as an aural experience we have never been able to reproduce that playing, even on our Sondek & Aktiv Briks system.
Needless to say, we have many of his albums, both both LP and CD
Played his “Majic Harp” album when I did not find “Sublime”. It was very good. Then saw your post and found the “Behind the Gardens - Behind the Wall - Under a Tree”. Very nice I agree.
I would love to hear this in MQA, sounds like it already has great miking.
It may have been a happy conjunction of “everything being just right” and it may never be possible to reproduce the mesmerising effect it had on the whole room (not just us!)…and we’re talking about a crappy demo room in a London hotel.
More pictures please, I like a good drool
