System Pics 2019

Some pretty amazing setups here… Love seeing them. Here is my downgrade/upgrade from largish Cyrus system. I am blown away by the Nova! The speakers are 30 year old audiovectors. Still sound brilliant, but I am looking to upgrade soon.

To be honest, I tested it for 4 weeks during recap of the naims. Then I sold all my naim kit and bought the audiomat, together with a Rike phono-stage. Only the Fraim left.

Very much a classic that one!

Hello, where can I buy the complete glass shelf in the internet that you have under the naim?

I Googled ‘online glass cut’ and found a web site where I could specify the size of glass, type of glass, thickness, polished edges etc etc. 45 Euro and 5 weeks later it arrived. The feet I bought on Amazon for 15 Euro and I glued them on with UV cured glue (14 Euro at diy center). Easy! I need to check if I have the prices right… Can’t be far off.

I see if I can find the web site. I think they were near Kassel in Germany.

The Qplus are designed to go under the feet of amps, streamers etc. In other words to isolate the boxes from the surface they sit on, eg a piece of furniture of a shelf on a rack. There are not meant to support a glass shelf on which the black box is sitting.

I would have thought oak cones from Russ Andrews would be an interesting option in such an arrangement. I’ve not used them, but could be worth a punt.

Nice to see someone else with yellow rooms G.

Moderated Post: Thomas, I have removed this picture as it seems to contain some personal information that I’m sure you would rather not show to everybody.

I wanted the glass shelf to protect the antique sideboard it is sitting on and as a bit of a heat spreader. Glass conducting heat better than wood. Other than that, I was not really expecting or planning for much of an acoustic decoupler.

I guess adding damping spacers would be a nice upgrade.

Do they work?

Hi Frenchrooster, this is interesting. It is a lovely looking bit of kit. I notice that it’s quoted output impedance is comparatively high, 600 ohms, ( although it does depend on how you measure it).

I’m guessing you are happy with the way it drives your Nap250dr? It can affect the bass response.

Interested to hear your experiences

I can only speak for the QPlus Reference, which are pretty expensive. I tried one set under my 552 head unit and was so impressed at what they did I ended up with four sets. The improvement each set brought was immediately obvious.

Very nice system FR. I do rather like the EAR 912 even though it reminds me of something i’d find in the lab at work :sunglasses:

Thanks for your comments… I am struggling with the whole theory behind this. Not sure why dampers can do anything for a solid state piece of hardware…

I have now glued the feet on the glass so I guess they would have to go on top of the glass.

900 Quid!! For four damping feet! What are they made of? Unicorn earwax?

the bass is well defined, with textures. No problem with that. Dynamics are explosive too…

thanks James. The ear 912 is nicer at night.
