System Pics 2019

Hi, can I ask what you put under the glass - glass panels that were downstairs? Gum? Do you think his best base is gummy base or the naive cups and cups? Thank you.

Some people advise me the sbp’s sbp plan for Quadrasphire, I like it better than a nice, dark, toughened glass! I don’t know if the noise improvement is similar between the two! :headphones:

Wow that’s quite an upgrade – very nice! That’s a great system.

My upgrade from 4 to 6 boxes (and NDS to ND555) mostly occurred this past summer while my wife was away. She eventually noticed, but she has a fair bit of interest (and a Ph. D.) and totally gets how separate pre and power amps can be “better” than an integrated, etc. And she loves the music  And she has zero issues with me spending my money on what I find pleasurable.

If it were my room, once I own a streamer (ND5XS) I’d get the cd’s out of the room

I also started a thread on best looking systems, but fully discounting the sound. I was expecting alot of responses to be period correct from when growing up - lots of tandberg receivers and such. Lots of responses mostly of individual pieces and occasional forays into super uglies. Still, I’m enjoying all the responses. But to me, tandberg was some of the best looking and has held up In fact, when I traded for the td 20, he had more revox decks that he would have traded, I had to wait for the tandberg, but to me, worth it,although revox is probably more readily repaired.

Three rooms, three systems which chop and change occasionally but I’m getting close to finished. Love the Olive series for the emotional connection I get with it, and the new lifestyle stuff is pretty good too.

First image is main room where the Nova is hooked up to the TV. The cd3.5/hicap has since gone to second room to rejoin the 82/180/supercap in the second image.

Third image is my Muso Qb in the kitchen diner. Tried it on my firewood chopping block but was ordered by SWMBO to put it back on the sideboard where it belongs. There are better battles to fight so the log is back in garage :frowning:

i see lps. Where is the turntable?

No turntable. I’m a very bad person. I do believe that vinyl is the best source and perhaps one day I will have a turntable again. It’s another bottomless money pit which I don’t need just yet though. Btw, those are singles.

No turntable, no party

It’s a shame you had to move the QB, looks fantastic on that woodblock!

+1 for no turntable. ND555 and Unity Core is all I need.

i can understand. It’s just that i saw lps on Gramae photo system.

My brand new Totem Tribe Tower speakers have arrived (replacing Sonus Faber Venere 2.0). They sound great. I drive them with a Supernait 2. Source is ND5 XS.

you didn’t liked the Venere? What are the differences?

I liked the Veneres. They are good speakers. The Totem Tribe Towers are better. They are more transparent, detailed and have tighter bass, as well as a bigger soundstage.

Apologies for the sad pic. We are on the move and my system is going to be in storage for some months, then in transit to UK. It will be the longest time I have been without my record player since I was about 13 years old. Nevertheless, a new home, a new set of challenges and hopefully a dedicated supply. Oh, and a ND555 and a Core too.
This has been a very interesting thread and its enjoyable to see how others have set up their equipment.

I love the arrangement of boxes though. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I wonder if they look different if they were stacked another way???
Any reason why they are stacked like that…
Does the tape make a difference Lol
Sorry but it made me laugh.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Your comments were well earned. The main worry I have had regarding permanent damage is to my back. Its many heavy boxes for a softie like me…
