I’ve read all those you cite, and many more, for many years. I would say my point by and large stands. Both periodically make such declarations but they lack detail and they just as often don’t mention the interaction when, having seen pictures of the space, it absolutely must have been a significant factor. That inconsistency alone loses them some vital credibility.
the pictures don’t show all the rooms in their entirety. We seem not to agree. It’s a free mind forum and all points of view are welcome.
I like to read Michael Fremer, but it’s me… He has a great knowledge in the analog domain , i am more reading his analog corner in stereophile.
I don’t know the serial numbers but I do know that the very first 500s came in the flight cases.
The famous fish is back! Welcome sir! You’ve been missed.
It is good to have the feisty flatfish back, your pointed observations and experience of all things Naim have been sorely missed, Sir.
Welcome to the Forum! …a sweet looking system…
Welcome to the Forum! Lovely looking room… and those black boxes would possibly look fantastic sitting on top of that beautiful table!!!
You don’t really know what you want to say i feel. Just perhaps to try to give an argument against my posts. Michael Fremer is a well known and world recognized audio journalist. His reviews are all but not inconsistent. It’s absurd and it proves that you really don’t know him. Sorry, but your comments are inconsistent.
Thanks, i just haven’t figured out another way yet. The table is not wide enough to fit the units on top. Living in the UAE there aren’t many HiFi stores to try and find something that will elevate without ruining the look and upsetting the wife. The large Sabrinas are already a sore point
Thank you! I agree it’s a work in progress, unfortunately they will not
fit on the table…
Hungryhalibut,…This above I understand nothing of,…I’ve scrolled into the “System Pics” thread, but haven’t found any of what you’re writing about above in your first post.
Please explain what you mean by this comment…
/Peder🙂
Beautiful system Adam! I just don’t understand the center speaker in the rack. Whatever could be the isolation and damping mechanism.
Chag -
It’s there if you want to find it. No need to explain. Move on.
May I respectfully suggest that discussions of Michael Fremer are irrelevant to System Pics. A new thread, ‘let’s argue about Michael Fremer’ could be set up, to accompany ‘pictures of reviewers’ extreme systems’. Our glorious Leader has clarified the purpose of System Pics. It’s for our own systems, not reviewers and by extension excessive discussion of said reviewers.
Let’s try to get back on topic please. Thank you.
Nor by extension, ANYTHING that is not related to system pics, including posts moaning about what people do or don’t like. This has to be the most ridiculous direction I’ve encountered on any forum. Up until recently, there was free flowing normal conversation style interactions, but that seems to be against the rules. Imagine having a real life conversation where any deviation from the original topic was slapped down. If this really is way we want to interact, then the rule should be enforced on every thread - let’s see how dull it gets then.
Don’t worry - I don’t get it either
On a serious note though… it sits on special isolation rubber / synthetic feet. Inevitably it’s of course a comrpomise between aesthetics and functionality.
The centre speaker is used only when the surround sound system is used - so the NAC is bypassed and only NAP250DR is used for the front L and R.
I haven’t so far heard any real impact of the vibrations from the centre speaker on the Yamaha preamp or the poweramps (Yamaha on the bottom left and Naim on the right).
When Naim is in full swing with any of the sources, the centre speaker is not used.
So that’s my excuses for putting the centre speaker on the same rack
It’s a bit like ‘Just a Minute’: no deviation, hesitation or repetition.
