Göran Rudling,.then, the owner of High Fidelity…and distributor for Linn and Naim in Sweden.
Or/And…
Stefan Mether,.then employed at High Fidelity…now among other things a dealer of Naim since many, many years you met at High Fidelity.
It was Göran Rudling who discovered this, with that “cut out” Ikea Lack worked as good basis for LP12,.and electronics from Linn and Naim.
Linn also had these “cut out” Ikea Lack,in there listening room at the factory in Scotland.
I think Naim also had these in Salisbury, but that perhaps Richard knows more about.
But this spread across the world,.as the best basis for LP12 and electronics at the time.
And…It still works very well.
But preferably then,if you take the original table from the -80s.
Today’s Ikea Lack has a little different construction.
But this I have written about on the old forum.
But as I said,.discoverer of this was Göran Rudling, former distributor of Linn and Naim in Sweden…and former owner of High Fidelity in Stockholm.
The old Naim demo room at the factory (now the cafeteria) used to have Lack tables, but it was before my time at the factory so Paul S could probably tell you more about this.
This is my modest system in my mancave at the bottom of the garden. Keeps me out of trouble!
Thorens TD166 (the weak link at the moment), Pickering XV-15, 202, 200, Stageline N, TP DTC+, Kingsound Electrostatic hybrid speakers.
It’s a small door, but the shelf is possibly a bit high. The platter is 1.4m from the ground. It’s fine, but I may lower it. Fortunately, we’ve not yet finished the decor so holes can be filled and painted…
This I have to try later,.I have still 6-8 table of Ikea Lack original.
But not used them since maybe 1994-95.
I bought a preloved Mana Acoustic with a Soundbase (see picture from my garage) for about 7-8 weeks ago.
I was thinking of having this Mana-shelf for my headphone-system.
It’ll be interesting to compare it with Ikea Lack.
