Hi Paul,
nice to see another dps!
how do you like SPL?
Looking good. I love that Alabama Shakes album.
love the SPL the only problem i have at the moment when downsizing i didn’t think about the number of inputs on the back of the Atom, so each time i want to used the SPL i have to disconnect the dps…plus i can’t use headphones if listening to vinyl (unless i use the Atom’s jack)
yeah me too, only just received it …never heard of them before, was watching fleabag on bbc 3 when they played one of the tracks off the album, so looked it up on tidal
Nice to see another NIMA arm too
Nice system! What combi?
[ added: oh, this was the pics thead, sorry. next tme less talk, more photos ]
Regarding Lack vs. Mana it was a long time ago. It was on Lack modified with spikes. I went through a lot of Lack tables during those years, tried a lot of tweaks. The Mana is a late model (with the new logo) Reference, and yes the glass was tuned and everything was levelled.
The system I ran at that point was one of my favourites over the years wth Prefix, 52, SC,135 and Epos ES-11. The LP12 was decent with Ekos2 but nothing like a modern one.
We also compared with Hutter and Fraim shelves. Ok but no Lack/Mana. I am still not convinced on Fraim despite using it … to heavy and complex. Time to investigate some alternatives.
We discussed wether the ”push” we got from the Lack was some resonance but no conclusion. We never bothered with accuracy, just went for the fun stuff
That’s true, the NAP500 is going to go down the stack as soon as my taller Fraim legs arrive… I am dreading moving the beast!
Not really, but you just gave me a great idea!
Beautiful speakers SS.
The Obelisks look a lot bigger than I remember, but I do remember the very natural sound they produced. Very nice.
Hi Jan,
if you are looking for something lighter, the Time Table range from Germany might be something for you. Back in the days the Axamo was the IKEA table used by most Linnies, including myself. The Time Tables are build along the same line of thought, only in true furniture quality.
Thanks Clive. I think that door is causing a lot of reality distortion in my pic. It is a cupboard door that has been shortened by about 10 inches when we put in the new floor on top of the external former courtyard that we’ve built the room in. This is making the TT shelf look higher than it really is and the speakers appear bigger too.
In any case, the speakers have now moved and are firing across the room and I reckon sounding more involving for it, despite being quite close to listening position. Early and experimental days…
As for the Shahinian presentation, as you know it draws quite polar responses. For some tastes, it’s too diffuse and laid back, perhaps lacking detail. For devotees, most alternatives sound a bit in your face, slightly relentless and ‘hifi’. I’ve been smitten for the past 25 years, though I think I may be swaying towards Kudos Titan presentation. That’s to be investigated further in due course…
what are the non maim boxes?
ta
Marksnaim,…An incredibly beautiful music-system you have .
But if I may give an important advice,.to improve soundquality.
Remove the cabinet you have between your Isobarik.
Put your TV on the wall instead.
After you have done this,.you will be able to make a new speaker-tuning.
But the end result will be even better soundquality.
Happy Easter
Ps: I also have active Isobarik .
/Peder🙂
Perhaps his wife prefers like that…The battle of looking vs sounding.
Are those Blok Audio racks?
