System Pics 2019

Don’t take this the wrong way, but the shelves are upside down. And the power supplies really should be to the right of the head units. It’s a little job for Easter Sunday!

I must confess my sins friends. And I have sinned twice. Both my systems have cabinets and TVs between them. I feel very ashamed…

oh crap, I checked some photos on the web and noticed. You are right. Need to redo again  … why do the PSU’s need to be on the right side ? @anon4489532

I find it remarkable that anyone would comment on a TV or unit location. Most of us know full well that such things impact but the damage to the sound is a matter of degree and often negligible to imagined. Whilst posting pictures will rightly invite comment I’m at a loss as to why the specific comment was made. Anyone who has spent thousands on a Naim system will have at minimum got good enough sound.

Commenting on cables; shelving; speaker position; room shape is fine as solutions are not always obvious but a TV and furniture are part of real life and frankly if you’re so obsessed with that level of detail you need to get out more.

I would guess most of us have a TV at minimum between our speakers and frankly it’s also a little disingenuous and rude to arrogantly blame that on our partners. My 50” Pioneer is in the wall between my Zu speakers because I wanted it there. If anything it was my wife who didn’t. For fun we took it down. The gains in musical enjoyment were minimal. It created other problems and we lost the enjoyment we had of feeding TV sound through the Naim.

Here are the Kanta 2’s @SpurrierSucks: I had a professional coming in to help with the exact placing. They sound superb. One of the two bass-ports on the back is closed with foam. This gave the best result. Iver

Good to hear you could get the bespoke made to match. Mine were bespoke too and I got a reasonable discount for ordering two at the same time and they were incredibly helpful, especially with delivery. But times change along with business models I guess.

That’s a lovely room and view @Mike_S. Such a shame that we will be joining each other in purgatory for our sinful furniture placement

After the minor storm caused by comments on my earlier post I found myself discussing the possibility of moving the TV and cabinet to assess the true impact they may have on sound quality with my wife. Then I thought WTF am I thinking!! It’s a living room not a recording studio.

Boom. And funnily enough, when my dealer installed the new main system last week, he said the same thing!

A living room and great hi-if, what is there not to love?

It gets the transformers, which are on the right side of the power supplies, further from the head units, and also makes Burndy dressing easier. While you are sorting out the shelves you may as well do it at the same time.

That’s a lovely system, roughly what I think I’d head towards if I could accommodate something larger.

And nice to see a lived in room with some proper gaming going on. Sekiro?

don’t exagerate Mark, in talking about purgatory. Peder wanted just to point that your system would sound much better without all the furnitures between the speakers. He was just a bit too direct, but was not criticizing your system.
Personally i have nothing between my speakers, my wife had to accommodate with that. But i easily understand the contrary.

Afternoon delight

The olive sound, a rare combination of maturity and liveliness.

Hello

TV in between the speakers does create issues for the audio

weather those are to be addressed or to be ignored are upto the owner of the living space.

My experience has been different from yours.

I have moved my 46 inch TV from in between the speakers first to a wall and after that to a totally different wall.

I just took the TV out of the equation

Regarding family - i did this with full support of my family.

I explained to them what i am looking for and thankfully got consent.

Some speed-breakers but were overcome.

BTW - i hate watching TV so i need not connect my system to the TV at all.

Peder wasn’t wrong.

He just stated a fact.

The point is that as we spend more $$$ on audio gear - we expect purer sound by that can be had only if

power
room
isolation

are in synchrony

Many times the above triad challenges domestic “status quo” and its happens in many houses

But the irony is that people think they can overcome the triad with spending even more money on hardware and that is wrogn

Have a great weekend all of you !

I think Peder should be left alone now I don’t always agree with his comments but they are well meant and he contributes much to this forum.

I have the Blok Staxx in Walnut and black glass, 4 tier, wonderful piece and fantastic for audio.

Well, you could put a small cabinet between the two iMacs too. If you sin twice, you might as well do a complete job.

Happy Easter

And that wonderful point of orange you always manage to let appear in your pics. This time it’s the sunlight. Perhaps the sound was that same orange too.

Spending for material that is limited by implementation is always frustrating …

Without going into a debate, simply that I did it with the series “Black” and Ovator in a room too small and under the roof.

Thank you @anon4489532: that makes sense. I will try do do so. It will be some puzzling since my Shwaline UTP-interconnect to the router is only 75cm. It’s the reason the NDX-2 is currently on the right. Anyway, work to do on Eastern Monday
