System Pics 2019

I tend to agree Bob - unfortunately all zealots, no matter how well intentioned, seem to inadvertently provoke negative reactions. HiFi and religion appear to have much in common!

This may sound odd, but when we were looking for houses back in 1992, one of the criteria was that a stereo with wall hugging speakers could be accommodated: we were using Linn Kans at the time. I really don’t like stuff between the speakers for visual reasons, but everyone’s room is different and it’s not always possible. Our telly is on the left, with the sound through the stereo, and surprisingly it sounds ok.

For my media room, the TV is intentionally between the speakers. That is how I enjoy watching Bluray concerts and the soundstage is better when it matches the visuals.

For the lounge, it’s the same and also a compromise between window positions, furniture and internal stairs. It’s not a big deal and we really enjoy it,

I don’t think any of that makes one a zealot, whatever that means.

Just because everyone has these wonderfully staged magazine quality living rooms, I bring you Naim with Kids.

This is the tidiest it has been in months.

And yes, my 282 has turned pink. When the light is right, it appears shocking pink.

Oh no! There is stuff between the speakers!

Though I must confess to a bit of tidy up when the SN2/NDX2 was installed. Found a box full of daughter stuff under the couches,…

Yeah there is a whole thread dedicated to this move to accomodate a kids bookcase.

Is it odd that I kind of like the pink look?

Possibly,

what’s worse is there is a 2 inch bit on the left of the NDX that was unaffected by this defect in anodizing. You can clearly see it.

More a shade of lavender?

Pink, lavender, who knows? But I think Naim should investigate this look. There seems some interest already.

Why not indeed. We’ve already had Chrome (bumper), Olive and Classic Black.

@anon4489532: Quadraspire fixed  Whatever I tried, I cannot get the NDX-2 on the left rack since my Shawline UTP is just too short. The NDX-2 is now accompanied by XP-Dr and SuperCapDr. The left rack has 282, 250dr and NAPsc. Next step is either 300Dr or 252. Not sure what to do first but currently thinking to go for 252. Happy Easter, Iver

Good man, that’s the spirit! I know what you mean about short ethernet leads - maybe you could trade for a longer one at some point in order to be able to get the NDX2 on the left. One thing I would do now though, is to put the 250 on the bottom shelf, with the napsc on the floor underneath, and the books on the middle shelf. This will give the 282 the best environment. You don’t need to turn anything other than the 250 off to do this, so it’s a five minute job. Then you can treat yourself to an Easter egg!! It all looks very nice indeed.

Cool !! Will do so … thanks for the advice !
Ah, brainteaser: next step, first 252 or first 300Dr?

Our room is much the same. Its strange but although the sound stage is obviously centred on the speakers, the stereo presence with the TV is very pleasant.
Watched Queen at Wembley last evening, although not a great Queen fan wrt albums, I have to say they were one of the great live stadium acts - helped in no small part by the audio.

I’d probably go for the 555PSDR first. I’d also swap the Quadraspire for Fraim, or Quadraspire SVT Bamboo if you don’t like the look of Fraim. Others will have different views of course. I’m so please my little comments have been well received. Enjoy your Easter.

Dan, i finished my post saying that he had to make a compromise and said that his living room is nicer with the cabinet between the speakers. Was i misunderstood?
