System Pics 2020

we’re on an identical trajectory but I think it’ll be a while before I can afford the PSU’s , might investigate some forbidden alternatives though!

Many thanks for the reply. I felt the same when upgrading to the NDX2 and feel it is definitely a better match with my SN2.
I’m also saving now and hopefully when we all come out the other side of this pandemic,I’ll also be demoing Xps dr.

Like Hollow above I appear to be on similar trajectory. Also have constraints that will limit if (when???) I will purchase the additional power supplies. Might just have to stay at two boxes.
Does make me think just how many on the forum are sitting at this same/similar point in their striving for good musical replay.
Will post a pic so that I try to keep to thread topic.

Changed the P3 ESR?

Thank you! She is not very ill. No fever for instance but here in Sweden we are told to stay at home if we have any symptoms of a cold.

Picture as mentioned earlier.
Yes - there is a rats nest in behind the stand
Yes - the stand could be improved but space/family constraints do not permit
Yes - the music sounds good, let’s just listen.

Familar setup there!
Do you use it for TV/Movies also?
I turn off the lights/screen on my ND, havimg gone from the ND5 I found it a bit overwhelming and turned it all off during playback!

I am doing well Tom, thank you. I just hope you and your family are doing as well in your beautiful mountains. I feel very fortunate to be able to work from home and still receive a paycheck at the end of the month.
Well, I had a 500 ordered before the price increase. Nobody seems to know where it is. I already sold my 300 and need to think of an alternative.

Hi Mr.M
Do not use hifi for tv. The speaker just in view is actually the left speaker and so to use it for tv would not position the sound correctly. The bottom right box is actually an old 5.1 blu-Ray player that has small speakers dotted around the room with a sub behind the tv. Not ideal but it does the job.
I tend to leave the screen on just now; upgrade path was Unitilite to SuperUniti to Nova to ND5XS2 & SN3 to NDX2 & SN3. Had the Nova for about a year so got used to seeing the display.
BTW I have been told no new toys…

That definitely throws the hifi rule book out the window, but the music rule book looks like it’s in proper usage. Well done :star:

The 4 box set up we’re discussing, mine with the SN2. I love it, but full use is more limited at the moment with everyone in the house almost all of the time.

Very nice Mike.

Good to hear that Orac, that’s a very nice system.

Now let’s see… how long will it take for someone to suggest an upgrade?

Claude

Oh… That’s too bad. Good luck with that

Claude

That’s the one @Mike_S, the 4 box sweet spot!

I must say at my “half way mark” running without PSU’s I’m already feeling encouraged by what is possible and look forward to the enhancements that lay ahead.

I seem to recall you have a rather special river view from there as well?

FWIW - when you add the third box, start with the XPS-DR on the NDX 2 if you can. In my experience this gives the greatest uplift to the music. Of course the cost is much higher than the HiCap but the results are just so more rewarding!

JMHO - YMMV

Good to know @seakayaker and always appreciate insight from those further down the same path. I had thought of it the same way round in my head, I’m hoping to add one in sometime this year anyway.

Yes, the upper end of Whangarei Harbour, keeps us sane for our daily walks whilst we have the still Autumn weather.

Wonderful, reminds me of where I grew up (Isle of Wight) and living a short walk from the sea!
I do have relatives based in Wellington, always did mean to visit them one day, hopefully will get the chance at some point.
