Please a picture, one of my two biggest audio mistakes was giving away my Sabres to an idiot who blew them up .
I wish Ruark were making speakers to their high standard today, but the business has hived off in a different way. I think it was a father and son, the father was the furniture maker and the son was the person behind the electronics
I fell in love with the Sabres and bought them without listening, the really funny things is that when I did listen , they sounded exactly as I hoped they would.
Likewise, mine runs silent except when ripping. I have mine inside a purpose built cupboard in the tv room, about 3m from the seating, I never hear it.
They should be running silent in my opinion, but a good idea putting it up there.
Was worth getting the grills off. They went on 12 years ago when my oldest was born. At some point the pair got swapped round and the tweeters ended up outermost. Corrected now!
I never got to the bottom of the problem with mine, but I can’t help thinking that there’s something wrong if it’s whirring away all the time. I guess it would affect the lifespan if the drive is spinning permanently. Maybe worth talking to Naim support about it, given that my replacement is silent.
Sorry - Whirring isn’t the the right description. That’s the sound it makes when it’s ripping. If it was doing that constantly then absolutely there would be a problem. I can’t really describe the sound in words very well - more like a gentle processing rumble sound.
Nothing new regarding Naim but 3 analogue sources replaced temporary my Linn Axis TT - two Nakamichi cassette tape decks and a Pioneer RT 909 open-reel one. Some recordings going on. It’s quite a fun especially during social distancing period. And the SQ is not bad at all😊
